Erst Finishes Second

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Latest to fall is Ukrainian Mike Erst, all in preflop with {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} against Helge Stjernvang's {8-Clubs} {8-Spades} and coming off second best on a {8-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {5-Spades} board.

We've losing over 40 players a level at the moment, that's roughly one every two minutes.

Deres-t Doesn't Go In

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Antonio Matias
Antonio Matias

Gerasimos Deres was put to a big decision just now by Antonio Matias, and the decision ended up being, "No." Three-way to a flop of {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, Deres led out (7,800) and Matias raised to 18,000. Deres had 45,000 behind and was covered by his opponent. He declined to pursue the hand further after a lengthy think, and Matias showed him {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}.

Jacobson's Fold Saves Him

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Martin Jacobson raised to 3,300 preflop only for Sigurd Eskeland and Rasmus Vogt to both move all-in behind him and the runner-up at Vilamoura and Deauville was left agonising over his decision.

The clock was called but Jacobson released his hand, unsure whether or not he was happy to see Eskeland's {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} and Vogt's {A-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} but the {K-Spades} {A-Spades} {8-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {10-Clubs} board meant he probably wouldn't have won the pot.

Vogt doubled to about 50,000 while Eskeland has a paltry 6,000 remaining.

Jelassi's New Table Perhaps More Challenging

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Ramzi Jelassi, mid ponder
Ramzi Jelassi, mid ponder

Sometimes catching the tail-end of a hand you have to work back to figure out who's done what. It's helpful if the players engage in a bit of post-end chat, like Ramzi Jelassi. His new neighbour Martins Adeniya had a bet of 16,100 sitting in front of him, and was sitting very still looking at a board of {K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}. Jelassi was debating making the call (the pot was 30k not including this bet) but folded in the end. Adeniya mucked and was not giving anything away, despite being asked.

"Did you have it?" Jelassi talked to himself, really. "I was so sure you were going to call and I was going to win. I wasn't prepared for that."

This is where the river story became clearer - Adeniya must have check-raised that fourth heart and created a problem for the once-chip-leader. Still comfortably stacked, he does have position on his tormentor, however.

Johanessen 4-Bets Annette, Soon Regrets It

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

It looked as though Stian Johanessen had made the opening raise and Annette Obrestad had reraised. Either way when we arrived Johanessen was four-betting to 24,000. Obrestad paused for just a moment, and then announced all in - eliciting a snap-fold and a sigh from Johanessen.

Obrestad is at around 120,000.

More Michael on Michael Action

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Michael Tureniec & Michael Aron
Michael Tureniec & Michael Aron

Michael Tureniec and Michael Aron are continuing the "kicking lumps out of each other" feud and no-one is backing down.

Tureniec opened to 3,700 from middle position and Aron 3-bet to 9,000 next to him, Tureniec now 4-bet to 19,400 - Aron then tanked for two minutes before setting the Swede all-in. Tureniec quickly called.

Tureniec: {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}
Aron: {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades}

The board came {A-Spades} {6-Spades} {5-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} and Tureniec doubled to 240,000 while Aron dropped to 185,000.
