Mutsch Less Chips

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Yorane Kerignard has managed a crucial double up after committing all his chips preflop with {K-Clubs} {K-Spades} against Alan Mutschlechner's {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} which failed to hit enough of the board when it came {q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Kerignard still only has about 15,000 or so.

Gulyy Hanging Around

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Andrey Gulyy has been nursing a short stack of late but has just won a pot that has pushed him to around 17,000.

Constantin Georgescu raised to 750 from early position, next to act was Josh Prager and he made the call. Gulyy, directly to Prager's left, bumped it up to 2,125, a bet that only Georgescu called.

Flop: {j-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts} - Georgescu checked, Gulyy kept up the aggression with a 2,725 continuation bet, which was enough to fold out the Romanian

Aching Head

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
James Akenhead
James Akenhead

James Akenhead has dropped to 24,000 after paying off a 10,000 bet on the river of a {6-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Spades} board against Rafal Lubczynsky. The Pole showed {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and Akenhead flashed {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs} before throwing into the muck.

Shtok Market Crashes

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

The flop read {5-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} when we arrived and Ilya Shtokman checked. Peter Sturzel bet 1,600, and Shtokman now check-raised to 4,000. Sturzel made a face but after a moment made the call anyway.

Shtokman bet out 5,000 on the {6-Clubs} turn and Sturzel snap-called, meaning that they got to see the {10-Diamonds} river almost immediately. This time Shtokman checked, but quickly called all in to Sturzel's bet. Shtokman turned over {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the rivered flush, and Shtokman's {5-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for two pair was revealed to the table by the dealer as Shtokman wandered towards the door.

Sturzel is now closing on August Schlegl's chip-leading stack - he's at around 90,000 now.

Nitsche Nicks It

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Dominik Nitsche
Dominik Nitsche

Dominic Nitsche is up to circa 46,000 chips after coming off the better of the two after a clash with Salim Ghozali.

Ghozali checked to Nitsche on a flop reading {2-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{10-Diamonds} then called as the young German bet 1,025. The {8-Hearts} on the turn saw similar action in a check from Ghozali and a larger bet of 2,800, which was enough to force Ghozali out of the pot.

Wasek Slowrolls Zipf

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Although I am not sure whether it was intentional or not, Lukasz Wasek just slowrolled Robert Werner Zipf on his way to eliminating him.

Jack Ellwood got things started with an opening raise to 900 from early position, Wasek re-raised to 3,000 from the hijack and Zipf quickly moved all in from the cutoff for what turned out to be 6,350 in total.

Ellwood quickly folded but Wasek waited for close to 30 seconds before calling and flipping over {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}, a massive favourite over the {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} of Zipf. No drama from the all low board and Zipf was sent packing whilst Wasek climbs to 45,700

Prager Back Where He Started

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Andrey Gulyy raised under the gun and folded all the way back around to the blinds. Morgan Stenberg in the small blind called; so did Josh Prager in the big.

They saw a {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop and it checked around to Gulyy who continuation bet 1,400. Stenberg called, but when the action returned to Prager he now opted to check-raise to 3,200. Gulyy folded fairly quickly and although it took him a little longer, Stenberg folded too.

Prager has had an interesting kind of day - he was overheard ordering two glasses of champagne at the bar before the tournament started, presumably to put him in the right frame of mind - and was below his starting stack before this hand. He's now back up to almost exactly 30,000.
