Dion's Hearts Will Go On

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante
Michael Tureniec
Michael Tureniec

Michael Tureniec check-called a bet of 14,000 on the turn of a {j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{a-Spades}{4-Hearts} board against Yann Dion as these two tangled yet again. Both players checked the {k-Spades} river and Dion turned over {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} to win the pot.

The pair are continuing to battle and it seems it'll only be a matter of time before they play a really big pot.

A Kernel of Hope for Powell

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

Jack Powell is back on the up after picking up a 90,000 pot to put him up to 135,000.

The board read {7-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} when we got there, and Powell was checking the river to Herbert Kern. Kern bet 20,000 and after a short period in the tank Powell called. He was rewarded with just a muck from Kern, and was awarded the pot without having to show his hand. This prompted the rarest of things - a smile from the usually unemotional Powell.

Vanfleet Runs Over Mortensen

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

Morten Mortensen has just lost a little ground on the chip leaders after tangling with Jonathan Vanfleet over on table 7.

Mortensen decided to take a shot at stealing the blinds and antes, which are quite substantial now, when the action folded to him in the hijack seat. Everyone folded to Vanfleet in the small blind and he re-raised the action to make it 12,600 to play. The big blind folded but Mortensen came along for the ride.

Flop:{8-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Spades} - The monotone flop was met with checks from both parties.

Turn:{5-Hearts} - Vanfleet wasted very little time in betting 17,000 chips into the pot, enough to force a fold from Mr Mortensen.

Coel Up & Die

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante
Nuno Coelho
Nuno Coelho

Team PokerStars Pro Nuno Coelho is out. He got the last of his chips in with {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} but found himself up against Sascha Groener's {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}. The Portuguese pro couldn't hit a thing, and duly hit the rail.

Yann's Dion and Dusted

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

Homer predicted it a couple of posts ago and it has just happened down on the tournament floor, Michael Tureniec and Yann Dion have just clashed in a huge pot that sees Dion eliminated and Tureniec catapulted towards the top of the chip counts.

Tureneic raised from the button, Dion came over the top of him from the small blind and when the big blind let go of his hand Tureniec announced he was all in and Dion instantly called!

Tureniec:{q-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Dion:{a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The final board of {j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{10-Clubs} was rather lacking in drama but it meant Dion was eliminated and the man who won EPT Copenhagen just a few weeks ago now has 370,000 chips. Wow!

Meulyzer is the real El Nino

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante
Philip Meulyzer
Philip Meulyzer

Phillip Meulyzer continues to wreak havoc on his table, knocking out Nino Ryschawy with {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds} against {2-Clubs}{2-Spades}, it looked like the latter was going to double up but then Meulyzer caught the river of a {4-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{9-Hearts} to send yet another player to the rail.

Carson Goes Down the Soltys Mines

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante
Russell Carson, yesterday
Russell Carson, yesterday

The gentleman under the gun opened to 4,600 and Russell Carson flat-called behind. The gentleman in the small blind called as well, as did Wojciech Soltys in the big blind, and they all four of them saw a flop.

Flop: {k-}{5-}{2-}

The blinds both checked and Mr. UTG continuation-bet 8,000. Carson raised to 23,000 and the small blind got out of the way, but Soltys now went all in. Mr. UTG folded, Carson called, and they were on their backs.

Soltys: {k-}{j-} for top pair
Carson: {5-}{5-} for middle set

Turn: {q-}

River: {3-}

With that, last year's runner up Carson was up to 275,000.
