Day 1a Completed: Adeniya Leads The Pack

Level 8 : 400/800, 75 ante
Martins Adeniya - 182,500 chips and the man to catch
Martins Adeniya - 182,500 chips and the man to catch

A total of 180 poker players descended on the Alpine Palace Hotel in Saalbach-Hinterglemm for the 2011 PokerStars.net EPT Snowfest and after eight levels of play that number had been reduced to 102.

One man who is easily through to Day 2 is Martins Adeniya who managed to turn his 30,000 starting stack into a very impressive 182,500, over 50,000 more than his nearest rival Wim Boss.

Six Team PokerStars Pros started the day with high hopes but only two of them, Michael Keiner and Alexander Kravchenko, survived the day. French Team PokerStars pro Arnaud Mattern was extremely unlucky relatively early on in proceedings, his {a-}{k-} losing to {a-}{q-} when a queen hit the turn.

EPT founder John Duthie bluffed the majority of his stack off with {6-Clubs}{2-Spades} and exited soon after, just before the end of the fourth blind level, whilst Ruben Visser and Marcin Horecki made it a little deeper but it just was not their day.

Day 1b begins at 1400 local time and should see a whole host of well-known players take to the felt, including the likes of Team PokerStars pro Liv Boeree, John Eames and Kevin MacPhee, but not before a huge snowball fight takes place at 1230!

Join us tomorrow from 1400 local time for the very best in live poker tournament coverage. Until then it is goodnight from the PokerNews team
