"Mad" Marvin Rettenmaier Living Up To His Name

Level 7 : 300/600, 50 ante

Last week Tony G gave Marvin Rettenmaier the nickname "Mad" in his blog describing him as having "the Germanic mathematical game but he has heart, he is winning, he gets drunk, he loses his passport – he is also running good. Make the most of it Mad Marvin"

Well Herr Rettenmaier has just lived up to his new found nickname in a pot with Michael Schurpf just moments ago. Schurpf made a bet of 1,400 when the table folded to him in middle position and Rettenmaier, who was next to act, three-bet to 3,625. When the action folded back around to Schurpf he sat motionless, staring intensely at his opponent for over a minute before counting out the necessary chips to make the call.

The flop of {3-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} saw a check from Schurpf, a bet of 3,650 from the mad one and after another minute of thinking time, a call from Schurpf. The {2-Clubs} fell on the turn and this time both players checked their option, which is exactly what they did when the {j-Clubs} made an appearance on the river.

As Rettenmaier was the last person to show any aggression in the hand he was asked to reveal his cards but he refused at first before laughing and turning over {8-Clubs}{6-Spades} for a complete bluff, whilst Schurpf turned over {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} for the win, boosting his stack to 44,000.
