Thorel Getting Hammered

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 200 ante
Jean-Noel Thorel
Jean-Noel Thorel

Around 37,000 had found its way into the pot before the {8-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop with three players in the hand, Jean-Noel Thorel in position. It checked around to him and he bet 14,000, which proved enough to win the hand.

Still, Thorel is not in great shape compared to how he was a few hours ago. Thorel started the day among the big stack on around 190,000 and in the early stages of play soared all the way up to 290,000. Now, even after winning that little pot, he's still down to a roughly average 165,000.

Squeezy Does It

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 200 ante

UTG+1 opened to 6,000 preflop with Denys Chufarin and Dan Heimiller both calling. It was passed around to William Reynolds in the big blind who made it 22,500 and surprisingly the other three players folded. Even Reynolds looked a tad surprised that his squeeze at had got through that easily as he wordlessly stacked added another 20,000 or so to his stack

Ulrich UL

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 200 ante

You've got to feel for Tim Ulrich, struggling towards the dinner break with just 45,000 now. Early position Samir Moukawem opened for 10,400, which must have looked promising to Ulrich on the button with {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}. He reraised to 25,000, and after one dwell, action passed back to Moukawem. He was all in and called in a flash.

Moukawem showed {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} which prompted the dwell-pass player to congratulate himself on his laydown of {A-}{Q-}. Moments later and this was reversed the board ran out {Q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}...{Q-Clubs}!

The river, however, fell {K-Diamonds} smacking the kings and prompting an equally dramatic table smack from Moukawem who thanked the deck and doubled up to over 120,000.

Making His Marc

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 200 ante

Marc Colome Oliveras has doubled up his 59,300 stack with Alvaro Velasco his beneficiary. Oliveras had reraised all in with {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades} against Velasco's {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and the board came out {2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. Velasco remains over the 100,000 mark but now so does Oliveras...

More Chips, More Points for Brito

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 200 ante
Fernando Brito
Fernando Brito

Fernando Brito, now unbeatable in the race for EPT Player of the Year, could well be adding some extra unnecessary points to his record - he's just doubled up to 240,000 with only 40 places or so to go until the money.

There was a raise to 5,000 before Brito made it 15,000. His opponent re-popped to 40,000, Brito shipped for 118,000, and his opponent called.

Brito: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Gentleman Opponent: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Board: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}{q-Spades}{5-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

Palovic Is Shown the Bluff

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 200 ante
Dag Palovic
Dag Palovic

Online qualifier Mathieu Thiry opened to 5,200 and Dag Palovic in the hijack and the gentleman in the small blind both called, before the big blind made it 19,000 to go. Palovic was the only caller.

The big blind gentleman bet out 18,000 on the {3-Hearts}{2-Spades}{10-Clubs} flop and Palovic snap-called; he bet out another 28,000 on the {q-Spades} turn and again the Team PokerStars Pro laconically dropped the call across the line without a moment's pause. They saw a {5-Hearts} river and this time they both checked.

"Show me the bluff!" said Palovic - and duly his opponent turned over {a-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}. Palovic flipped {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and took the pot. "I was calling at the end because of TV," said the cheerful Palovic, "If you push I call."

Palovic is now very comfortable on 280,000.
