It's a wrap, we have officially ran out of day ones!

191 players entered today's competition giving us a total number of 336 players in our first ever EPT to be held in Greece. Thirty-eight different countries shipped their poker players to the Gulf of Corinth and 5% of them came from Germany. Yesterday we brought you the news that a German player, Julian Herold, finished as the Day 1a chip leader with 138,425 chips and Day 1b was no different. Mario Puccini finished with 159,150 chips and he will go into Day 2 as the overall chip leader.

Three Team Pokerstars Pros made it through to Day 2 and three did not. Toni Judet (143,500), Johnny Lodden (40,000) and Jude Ainsworth (32,600) made it and Arnaud Mattern, Theo Jorgensen and Vanessa Rousso did not. Team Online Pro Randy Lew was also a Day 1b casualty.

232 players will return at 12.00 (CET) on Thursday and we will bring you all of the coverage here at Pokernews.

Contenders At The Death

Here are the players vying for the top of mount Day 1b

Aidonopoulos Trips Up

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Oh dear Theodoros Aidonopoulos.

After David Elyashar had checked the river of a {7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Clubs} board, Aidonopoulos bet 9,850 and was snap-called by his Israeli opponent, the Greek player was very happy to show {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} but Elyashar held {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for a straight to win the pot.

Aidonopoulos was left with a face that looked like he was chewing a wasp.

Not Going the Way of the Chipleaders

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

It's not going the way of Jan Collado, he's just had to fold on the turn of a {10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} board when his 3,100 bet was check-raised to 11,125 by Dobromir Nikov. A sigh from the German and he folded.

Meanwhile Loykia Lypraioy bet 3,500 on a {Q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} only to sigh and fold when Georgios Zisimopoulos made it a chunky-looking 16,000 to go.

Irishman Finds His Pocket Ones

Jude Ainsworth
Jude Ainsworth

Jan Collado, opened from late position to 1,125 before Jude Ainsworth made it 2,700 from the big blind. Collado didn't waste too much time in setting the Team PokerStars Pro in and he got a quick call.

Jan Collado: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}
Ainsworth: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}

The board came {Q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{K-Spades} and Collado lost the chip lead while Ainsworth regained most of the chips he'd previously lost to Theo Jorgensen.
