The reigning champion
The reigning champion

The players who finished in the top three spots at EPT Copenhagen Season 7 have all graced us with their presence on Day 1b.

The reigning champion, Michael Tureniec, is sharing a table with two former EPT final tablists. Jesus Cortes Lizano (EPT Barcelona Season 7) and Andreas Wiese (EPT Vienna Season 7) making it a trio of talent on table 26. Here is Tureniec playing his first pot of the day.

Tureniec raised to 275 in first position and the small blind defended. The flop was {Q-Spades} {10-Clubs} {6-Clubs} and the small blind check-called a 400 Tureniec bet. On the turn we had the {10-Hearts} and Tureniec won his first pot after a 1,000 double barrel got through.

The runner-up in last years event is also a talented Swedish player. Per Linde picked up $449,770 for that finish, making it his best performance to date. He is currently sat with Team PokerStars Pro and EPT legend Luca Pagano. We spent a short time around their table but for the moment the fireworks remain firmly shut in their box.

The third spot in last years final went to John Eames. Just like Linde the $257,011 he picked up for his 3rd place finish was also his best performance to date. Eames has a tough job ahead of him as he is sharing the same oxygen as Team PokerStars Pro Viktor Blom and Martin Jacobson. Jacobson suffered a car accident on his way back from EPT Deauville and the person driving the car was a player Eames backs in online action. Luckily, no one was hurt in the accident and Eames took the opportunity to thank Jacobson. Why was he thanking him? Well Eames believes Jacobson runs so good that it was his presence in the car that avoided them all suffering an awful death. Here is Eames only action to date…

Eames makes it 300 to play from first position and Adel Omar three-bets from the cutoff making it 1,100 to continue. Eames decides to do just that but does fold to a flop c-bet from his opponent.

Easy Chips For Tureniec

Reigning EPT Copenhagen champion Michael Tureniec has just won the first hand he played with a mini-squeeze from the button.

Philipp Teipel opened from late position with a raise to 300 and after one player folded Andreas Wiese, himself a former EPT champion, made the call from the cutoff. The action was then on Tureniec who made it 1,100 to play and both his opponents quickly got out of the way.

Wigg Picks Up Early Pot

From UTG+1 former EPT Copenhagen champion Anton Wigg opened with a raise to 300 and seated to his direct left is Antonio Esteves dos Santos and he smooth-calls. No other players want to come along for the ride and it is heads-up to the {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop.

Wigg fires a continuation bet of what looked like 800 but he immediately pulls it back into his stack as his opponents immediately mucked.

Ainsworth Quick Of The Mark

Team PokerStars Pro Jude Ainsworth had not even finished signing the media waiver forms over on Table 35 when he found himself involved in a hand.

Christian Lenz opened from late position with a raise to 300. Two players folded and the action was on Ainsworth on the button. He put his pen down, checked his holecards and then three-bet to 800. The blinds folded and Lenz made the call.

The flop came down {2-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Lenz checked its arrival. Ainsworth continued with a bet of 1,100 and Lenz insta-mucked.

Welcome to Day 1b of EPT Copenhagen

Copenhagen - It's rather pretty
Copenhagen - It's rather pretty

Hello and welcome to the Casino Copenhagen which is situated in the luxurious Radisson Blu hotel in the heart of Copenhagen. Today marks the start of Day 1b of the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Copenhagen Main Event and we expect it to be an absolute cracker.

We were rather taken aback yesterday when a select crowd of 83 players chose Day 1a as their starting day but we fully expect a much, much larger number of entrants today. We already have confirmation that the likes of former EPT Copenhagen champion Anton Wigg, last year's third place finisher John Eames and the man who has made second place in EPTs his own Martin Jacobson are set to play.

A number of PokerStars Team Pros have also made the journey to Denmark, including hometown boy Theo Jorgensen, Sweden's Viktor Blom and Norway's Johnny Lodden. Also set to play are Kevin Vandersmissen and the EPT Deauville final table member "Big" Mick Graydon.

Join us from 1200 CET for all the action, as it happens, from Day 1b of the EPT Copenhagen Main Event.
