Day 1 of the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final €25,000 High Roller is in the books after the players trudged through the first 10 levels of play. Plopping down the big buy-in were 117 players. Add another 16 re-entries to that and there were a total of 133 entries in this event.

At the end of the day, under 50 players remained with Andrew Badecker on top holding 350,000 in chips. He's trailed closely by Vincent van der Fluit with 341,200 and then Sami Kelopuro comes in third with 310,000.

Also remaining are notables Phil Ivey, Chris Moorman, Patrik Antonius and Bryn Kenney. All four of them bagged up a good portion of chips and will be above average coming into Day 2. Some of those eliminated on the day included JP Kelly, Eugene Katchalov, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and Jason Mercier.

Day 2 will commence tomorrow at 12:00 PM local time and PokerNews will be on hand for all of the coverage straight from the get go. We hope you're here to join us then.

Kelopuro Can't Squeeze This One

Bryn Kenney raised from the hijack seat and Team PokerStars Pro David Williams flatted from the cutoff before action moved over to Sami Kelopuro in the small blind. Kelopuro reraised to 12,800. Play moved back to Kenney and he four-bet to 29,000. Williams gave it some thought and then folded. Kelopuro also thought it over, but folded as well and Kenney won the pot.

Timex Five-Bets Badecker

From the hijack seat, Phil Ivey raised to 3,000. Mike "Timex" McDonald reraised to 9,000 from the cutoff seat and then action fell on Andrew Badecker on the button. He four-bet and made it 19,400 to go. Play folded back to Ivey and he folded. McDonald five-bet to 37,700 and Badecker mucked.
