€50,000 Super High Roller
Day 1 Started
The European Poker Tour is back with Season 9 of the tour. The first stop is right here in beautiful Barcelona, Spain and things are kicking off with a bang as the €50,000 Super High Roller is just moments away.
Casino Barcelona plays host to this massive event, which will be the largest poker tournament ever held in Spain. Nearly 50 players are already confirmed to be registered and it's truly going to be a stacked field of participants.
According to the EPT, those set to play include Team PokerStars Pros Daniel Negreanu, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Jonathan Duhamel, Eugene Katchalov and Jason Mercier. Others joining them on the felt will be Sam Chartier, Tobias Reinkemeier, Scott Seiver, Erik Seidel, Mike McDonald, Kyle Julius, Dan Shak, Steve O’Dwyer, Peter Jetten, Alec Torelli and Philipp Gruissem.
There's also rumor that the one and only Phil Ivey will be in the mix for this event, which is something no one will want to miss.
This elite, three-day event kicks off today at noon and all players will begin 250,000 in chips. The blinds kick off at 500/1,000/100 with all levels lasting an hour in length. PokerNews will be on hand from the get go bringing you all the updates, photos and videos you can handle, so be sure to stay tuned for the action!
As is often the case with Super High Roller events, the start of the tournament has been delayed. Many players are lingering about the tournament floor including Erik Seidel, Daniel Negreanu and Dan Shak, so we're guesstimating it won't be too long a delay, perhaps 20 minutes or so.
Stay tuned for all the latest and greatest updates from the PokerNews Live Reporting Team.

The cards are in the air for Season 9 of the European Poker Tour.
The blinds and antes are small in comparison to the deep starting stack, but the players haven't shied away from a little action. In a recent hand, action folded to Jani Sointula in the cutoff and he raised to 2,500, which Daniel Negreanu called from the small blind. Both players proceeded to check the flop, bringing about the turn.
This time Negreanu took the initiative and led out for 3,500, and after a little thought, Sointula tossed in a call. Both players returned to checking on the river, and Negreanu rolled over for a rivered pair of kings. Unfortunately for him, Sointula revealed to win the pot.
The Festa Major de Gracia is Barcelona's premiere street festivals, and it just so happened to coincide with the Season 9 EPT Barcelona. Here are a few shots from the Festa Major de Gracia, know for its street performances, decor, and unique celebrations.

We didn’t catch all the action, but we do know that Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu managed to get all in for about 200,000 with the on a flop of and was up against the of Mike “Timex” McDonald.
“Uh oh,” Negreanu said, “I only did it because there’s rebuys.”
The turn was bad for Negreanu as it improved McDonald to trips, but it’d be the on the river that would improve the latter to a flush even though it made Negreanu's straight.
“I just swapped with ElkY, too,” Negreanu said. “Poor guy. Oh well, I’m going to take a nap.”
Sure enough, Negreanu exited the tournament floor, though it sounded as though he might return later in the day and rebuy.
