Kitai Busts Out Paur

The camera crew were rushing over to the furthest table in the room so we did what any blogger worth their salt would do and we followed them.

When we arrived at the table we saw Taylor Paur all-in for 117,000 with {J-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} in front of him and Davidi Kitai one seat along with {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}. The {a-Spades}{4-Spades}{8-Clubs} flop was rather final and the hand was locked up, for Kitai, when the {4-Hearts} landed on the turn. The inconsequential {Q-Diamonds} completed the board and we are down to 40 in the main event.

Wright Crushing

Marc Wright
Marc Wright

To say that Marc Wright has been crushing would be an understatement. He just won a monster pot to push his stack back into the lead with around 2.3 million. Heck, he's got so many chips it's hard to count them.

Action folded to Wright on the button and he made it 22,000 to go. Gereon Sowa three-bet from the small blind to 59,000 and action moved back to Wright. He called to see a flop.

The {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades} fell and Sowa bet 52,000. Wright flatted and the {5-Diamonds} paired the board on the turn. Sowa stayed on the gas with a bet of 114,000. Wright called.

The river was the {4-Clubs} and seemed like a pretty insignificant one, but when Sowa shoved all in for 450,000, he knew just how much that card meant to Wright as he snapped him off holding the {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for a rivered straight. Sowa showed the {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} for an ace-high bluff and he was eliminated.

Wright Staying Aggressive

From under the gun, Gereon Sowa raised to 21,000. David Kahan called from the small blind and Marc Wright called from the big blind. The three players were then presented with a {J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop and action checked to Sowa. He bet 33,000 and Kahan folded. Wright check-raised and made it 119,000 to go. Sowa folded and Wright won the pot.

Ulusu Loses A Little Ground

Cengiz Ulusu

The action folded to Kenny Hicks in the cutoff and he immediately min-raised to 20,000. The button and small blind both got out of the way but Cengiz Ulusu made the call in the big blind.

The flop came down {5-Clubs}{J-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and both players instantly checked and the dealer put out the {4-Diamonds} and Ulusu greeted it with a bet of 25,000, a bet that Hicks was prepared to call. The river was the {K-Clubs} and both players reverted back to checking.

Ulusu was told he had to show his hand first as he was the last aggressor but he was reluctant to. Eventually we found out why because he held just {10-}{6-} and lost out to Hicks' {A-Spades}{2-Hearts}.

Wright Passes 1.6 Million Chips

Andrey Zaichenko opened to 20,000 from under the gun and after the next two players folded the in-form Marc Wright three-bet to 52,000. The action folded back around to Zaichenko and after he took a minute to consider all of his options he made the call.

After burning a card the dealer put out the {k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop. Zaichenko snap-checked and Wright instantly checked behind. The turn brought the {10-Spades} into play and Zaichenko checked once again. Wright bet 57,000 and a minute later his opponent made the call. The final community card was the {9-Spades} and when Zaichenko checked again Wright tapped the table and checked behind.

Wright revealed {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and Zaichenko mucked. Wright mentioned he did not want to be check-raised hence his decision to check behind.
