Day 1b Awaits

Welcome to Day 1b of the 2012 PokerStars.fr EPT Deauville. Yesterday's starting flight of Day 1a drew 339 players and we expect many more to hit the felt today to take their shot at EPT glory. Kristijonas Andrulis enjoyed the most success on Day 1a, bagging up a stack of 162,200.

Last year's champion, Lucien Cohen, should be among those in the field today and he'll be joined by a plethora of Team PokerStars Pros. Liv Boeree, Vanessa Selbst, Ana Marquez, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Vanessa Rousso, and Eugene Katchalov are all expected to take part in the action today.

Eight levels will be played today with no dinner break. Each level is 60 minutes and there will be a 15-minute break after every two levels. Play is scheduled to start in about an hour from now, so keep it here at PokerNews throughout the day for updates on all of the exciting action as it takes place.

Isildur Flushed

Online high-stakes phenom and Team PokerStars Pro Viktor "Isildur1" Blom played relatively tight for the first orbit here in Deauville, but couldn't help but get in on the action when he held the button for the second time.

In position, he called a 350-chip open from the player in the hijack and they went heads-up to a {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop. Here Blom called a 550-chip continuation bet and after the {4-Clubs} turn, he called another 1,600-chip lead from his opponent.

The river came the {a-Clubs} and after the hijack pushed 3,600 across the line, Blom insta-called and insta-mucked when he was shown {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}.

Good Start For Shorr

Picking up the action on a {J-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{9-Spades} board with three players in the pot, Shannon Shorr bet 1,050. One opponent called, the other folded, and the {A-Diamonds} hit the river.

Shorr bet 2,100, but watched his opponent pop it to 6,025. After mulling it over for about 25 seconds, Shorr min-raised (remember...in France the min-raise is double the total amount) to 12,050. His opponent was not at all happy and after about a minute of deliberation, she paid off Shorr.

He tabled {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for the second nuts, taking it down and increasing his stack to about 45,000.

Shaky Start for Soulier

Fabrice Soulier is down to 25,000 chips after he gave up a hand on the river.

He three-bet to 750 from the button after a player in the cut-off had opened to 300. The cut-off called and then min-raised Soulier's 750 c-bet on the {3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop. Call.

The turn came as {2-Diamonds} and the Frenchman tank called his opponent's 2,600 lead to see the {k-Clubs} river. Here he tanked even longer after facing a 5,600 bet. He didn't have the goods to call and pushed his cards towards the muck.
