Boujenah Drags a Monster

Ilan Boujenah (on Day 1)
Ilan Boujenah (on Day 1)

Ilan Boujenah opened with a middle-position raise then four-bet João Paulo Simão. Simão flatted, and off they went to the flop in what would be the biggest pot of the tournament thus far.

The dealer spread out {J-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {6-Clubs}, and Simão called a continuation bet. Another bet came from Boujenah behind the {3-Diamonds} turn — 90,000 this time into a pot a couple times larger than that. "Raise," Simão announced. He stacked out 210,000 and slid it across the line, and Boujenah didn't waste too much time making the call.

The river came the {K-Spades}, and Boujenah reached for betting chips once again. He led right back out with 175,000 total, and Simão asked how much he was playing. That question didn't go over very well with Boujenah as he was in no mood to accommodate Simão's request. The dealer eventually helped the two come to a solution, and Simão began to stack up a raise in his bet staging area. After a few minutes, though, he decided to simply make the call to see what was what.

Boujenah proudly rolled over {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs}, and Simão's cards hit the muck. It took several pushes of both the dealer's arms to get all those chips over to Boujenah's corner, and he'll likely be spending a few minutes of the upcoming dinner break stacking up that whale of a pot. He's well over and a quarter million now and well clear of the pack.
