Pagano Check-Raised On Turn

From the cutoff seat, Team PokerStars Pro Luca Pagano raised to 3,000. Istvan Birizdo called from the small blind, and the flop came down {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. After Birizdo checked, Pagano bet 6,000. Birizdo called.

The turn was the {10-Clubs}, and Birizdo checked. Pagano bet 7,000, but Birizdo check-raised to about 19,000 and won the pot right there.

Seven-Bet from Barnes... with a Deuce

From the hijack seat, Benny Spindler raised to 2,400. Next to act was chip leader Brandon Barnes, and he reraised to 6,500. On the button, Joe Kuether reraised to 15,500.

Action then folded back to Spinder before he also folded. Barnes didn't back down, and he reraised to 36,500. Kuether then went into the tank, and he eventually would make it 58,500 to go with a six-bet. Barnes announced that he was all in not too long after, and Kuether quickly folded with about 110,000 behind. Barnes showed a {2-} as he pulled in the pot.

Terry Catches a Queen to Stay Alive

Todd Terry found himself all in preflop for 56,200 and dominated by Benny Spindler.

Showdown
Terry: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Spindler: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}

Terry was in need of some major help, and while he found none on the {5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop, the {Q-Hearts} turn was just what the doctor ordered. Terry had hit his three-outer to take the lead, and the {6-Diamonds} river ensured his double.

Julius & Kornuth Eliminated

Kyle Julius on Day 1.
Kyle Julius on Day 1.

A raising war broke out on a {Q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{9-Diamonds} flop between Justin Bonomo and Kyle Julius that resulted in the latter bing all in for right around 30,000.

Showdown
Julius: {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Bonomo: {Q-Spades}{9-Spades}

Julius knew he'd stepped in it and was up out of his seat even before the {4-Spades} turned. That brought him one step closer to the door, while the {8-Hearts} river pushed him out of it.

Meanwhile, Chance Kornuth has been eliminated from the tournament.

Kalfon Doubles Through Barnes

We didn't catch the preflop action, but we do know Franck Kalfon was all in preflop and at risk against Brandon Barnes.

Showdown
Barnes: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}
Kalfon: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}

Kalfon was well out in front, but the {8-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop did give Barnes a flush draw. Luckily for Kalfon, neither the {6-Clubs} turn nor {3-Clubs} river filled it and he doubled on the hand.

Lichtenberger Doubles Through Savinelli

On the button, Carlo Savinelli raised to 3,000. Andrew Lichtenberger reraised out of the small blind to 6,400, then action fell on Dan O'Brien in the big blind. He took some time, then reraised to 10,500. Savinelli didn't budge. Instead, he five-bet to 16,000 even. Lichtenberger then thought, and he took a minute before reraised all in for 39,900. O'Brien folded, and Savinelli quickly called.

Lichtenberger had moved in with the {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and was dominating the {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} for Savinelli. From there, the board ran out {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades}, and Lichtenberger doubled up.

Brinkmann Gone

McLean Karr just eliminated Torsten Brinkmann. There was a raise and a call before Brinkmann reraised all in. Karr woke up to two aces and made the call, while everyone else folded. Brinkmann held a suited {A-}{K-}, but couldn't improve and was sent to the rail.

Barnes Increases Lead

On the {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{6-Spades} flop, Shahin Baharan and Franck Kalfon checked to chip leader Brandon Barnes. Barnes fired 4,500, and both of his opponents made the call.

The turn was the {Q-Hearts}, and action checked to Barnes again. He bet 12,300 this time, but couldn't get any calls as both Baharan and Kalfon folded.
