Staszko vs. "The Magician"

Action folded to Team PokerStars Pro Martin Staszko in the hijack and he opened for 450. Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari defended from the big blind and the two saw a flop of {6-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{9-Spades}, which both checked. When the dealer burned and turned the {4-Spades}, Esfandiari checked and then folded to a bet of 500 from Staszko.

It wasn't much of a hand, but it gave us a good excuse to update you on their counts.

ElkY Exits

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier - Eliminated
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier - Eliminated

Action folded to Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier who raised to 400 from the hijack. Alfonso Donnarumma three-bet to 1,200 from the button and it folded back to ElkY who flat called.

The two saw a flop of {5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades} fall and Grospellier led out for 1,775. Donnarumma quickly called and the {5-Clubs} paired the board on the turn. Grospellier kept up with aggression, pushing out a bet of 4,400. Donnarumma stuck around.

The {3-Hearts} fell on the river and turned out to be quite the action card. Grospellier bet 15,500. Donnarunna took one quick look back at his cards, heaved a breath and moved all of his chips in. ElkY shrugged and called, only to see Donnarumma turn over {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a full house.

Grospellier let out a laugh and showed {A-Hearts}{k-Hearts} for a rivered flush. Grospellier shipped all of his stack over to Donnarumma and quickly got up from the table. Donnarumma is now sitting on about 68,000 in chips.

Two Small Ones

  • France and Italy's best battled and France won the day.
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and Dario Alioto had made it to the river of a {6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{k-Spades}{2-Hearts} board. ElkY bet 6,675 into a pot that had swelled to 7,525. Alioto tank-folded.
  • Moments later on and adjacent table Ben Vinson was proving hard to shift on a {2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} board. He check-called a 1,025 bet on the flop before both players checked down the rest of the way. Vinson had got here with {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, beating out {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}.
Vinson's mate, Chris Sly, is at the same table and cruising on 50,000.

Bianchi Rivers a Full House

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

With 2,200 already in the pot and {2-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {K-Hearts} on the board, the 2011 WSOP champ and Team PokerStars Pro Pius Heinz bet 1,100. His fellow countryman Rene Roseler folded while Russia's Mikhail Aleksandrov and Italy's Fabio Bianchi both called.

The turn card was {J-Clubs} and all three checked. The {2-Hearts} on the river was followed by a 2,700 bet from Bianchi. Heinz folded and Aleksandrov called. Bianchi showed {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} for a full house - jacks full of deuces and Aleksandrov mucked his hand.

Queen-Jack All Around

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Action folded over to Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu, and he was seated in the hijack seat. Negreanu raised to 400 and received calls from Edwin Salca in the small blind and Ronny Kaiser in the big blind.

The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} with both Salca and Kaiser checking over to Negreanu. The Team Pro fired a continuation bet of 750, and Salca called. Kaiser opted to up the amount with a check-raise to 2,000. Negreanu called, then Salca also came along.

On fourth street, the {8-Clubs} landed. Salca checked, Kaiser bet 4,100, and Negreanu called. Salca gave it up, leaving Negreanu and Kaiser the only two to see the river.

The {4-Spades} completed the board, and Kaiser checked. Negreanu checked behind and it was time for the showdown.

Kaiser showed the {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}, and Negreanu tabled the {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. Both held the same hand and chopped up the pot.

Pocket Tens Do the Trick for Bonomo

After Eddie Tasbas opened for 525 from the hijack, Justin Bonomo three-bet to 1,450 from the cutoff. The button and small blind both folded, and then Denmark's Soren Hansen opted for a four-bet to 3,500 from the big blind. Tasbas got out of the way, Bonomo called, and the duo watched the flop come down {6-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}.

Hansen led out for 3,500 and then checked the {Q-Clubs} turn after Bonomo had called. The latter tossed out a bet of 6,000, Hansen called, and then both players checked the {7-Hearts} river. Bonomo tabled {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, and it was good as Hansen simply mucked his hand. With that, Bonomo increased his stack up to 64,500.
