We're back for Day 4 of the EPT Sanremo Main Event! Yesterday's play saw the returning players play four 90-minute levels during which the bubble was popped and the field was reduced to merely 66 returning players. Inge Forsmo, who held the chip lead going into Day 3, is once again atop the leader board going into Day 4.
Yesterday's play saw a slew of notable faces hit the rail before making the money. Jude Ainsworth, Andre Akkari, Pius Heinz, Sam Trickett, Jose "Nacho" Barbero, Kyle Cheong, and Bryan Paris were among those players.
While those players were unable to make the money, others thrived as the tournament progressed. Returning big stacks are Angelo Recchia (851,000), Carmelo Vasta (844,000), Laurent Polito (717,000), David Vamplew (547,000), Alex Roumeliotis (505,000) and Isaac Haxton (488,000). Others still in contention going into Day 4 include Matt Salsberg, Shaun Deeb, Roberto Romanello, Yevgeniy Timoshenko and Justin Bonomo.
Cards will be in the air soon and we'll be on hand to provide you with all of the latest updates! The plan is to play down to the top 24 but the field may play on if that number is reached quickly. Be sure to stay tuned for all of the action from the felt here on PokerNews

Justin Bonomo raised to 16,000 from under the gun plus one and it folded around to Laurent Polito who three-bet to 38,000 from the small blind. It folded back to Bonomo and he called.
The dealer spread out a flop of and Polito continued for 36,000. Bonomo stuck around and the turn brought the . The bet was 50,000 this time and Bonomo called once again.
The river was the and both players checked it down. Polito showed for absolutely nothing and Bonomo tabled for a pair of deuces. He took down the pot and is now sitting on 485,000.

Action folded around to Jonas Mackoff in the hijack and he moved all in for 86,000. Frederico Cipollini then moved all in over the top from the small blind, which prompted the big to get out of the way.

Mackoff: |
It was a classic flip, but not after the flop. Mackoff had hit a set to take a commanding lead, but the turn did open up some straight options for Cipollini. Unfortunately for the latter, the river was not what he needed and Mackoff doubled.

We just lost one of the more recognizable names in the field just now as Imed Mahmoud sent Roberto Romanello to the rail.
It happened when action folded around to Romanello in the cutoff and he moved all in. Imed Mahmoud made the call from the small blind, and after the big folded, Romanello said, "I'm not slow rolling, I only looked at one." He then flashed the and indicated he wanted Mahmoud to show. The latter was having none of it and refused to show his hand.
After some prompting from the floor, Romanello squeezed out his other card, the , and then Mahmoud tabled . It was a flip.
The flop wasn't particularly interesting, and neither was the turn as no player held a spade. The dealer burned one final time and put down the , the last card Romanello would see in the EPT9 Sanremo Main Event.

Alexander Zayont was in small blind and tossed in another 4,000 to call the big blind. Morten Mortensen on his immediate left checked his option in the big blind. The dealer flipped out on the flop, and Zayont bet 10,000. Mortensen called, and the two saw the come on the turn.
Zayont checked, and Mortensen bet 44,000. Zayont made the call, and the dealer opened the on the fifth street. Zayont checked again, and Mortensen put in another 39,000. Zayont wasn't willing and folded.
As soon as the hand was finished, all players gathered their chips and were reseated to the remaining eight tables.

We're not sure when the money went in, but we watched Francesco Lorenzini having his stack counted down so that he could be paid off by Mike Watson. The former held on a board, while the latter had laid out in front of him.
Watson looked thoroughly displeased, and with good reason as he was left with just 50,000.
