ElkY Kicks Andrey in The Gulyys

Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier has just doubled through Andrey Gulyy, decimating his Russian opponent's stack as a result.

The chips went in preflop, Gulyy's {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades} finding itself up against the {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} of ElkY. The first three community cards fell {k-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and they were followed by an {A-Clubs} on the turn and a {10-Hearts} river, ElkY climbs while Gulyy needs to halt his current slide.

One Doubles, One Busts

Roberto Romanello opened, Marat Begenov three-bet all in for what looked like 60,000 or so on his direct left, and the action folded back to Romanello, who called.

Romanello: {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Begenov: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The {8-Spades}{k-Clubs}{a-Spades} flop gave Bergenov two pair, and the {10-Spades} on the turn was a brick, but the {4-Spades} spiked on the river to give Romanello a set.

"Lucky river," Romanello said after the hand, smiling.

At an adjacent table, Hans Kersebom was all in and at risk holding {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} against the {a-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} of Konstantin Russkih. The board came {7-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{j-Clubs}, and Kersebom doubled to around 175,000 chips.

Russkih dropped to about 40,000.

High Fives For Khvitia

A short-stacked Pavel Ion moved all in for 15,500 when action folded to him in the small blind and Enver Khvitia called from the big.

Showdown
Ion: {7-Clubs}{4-Spades}
Khvitia: {K-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

Ion was behind, but he held two live cards. The {2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} paired Khvitia, but it also gave Ion a gut-shot straight draw. The {A-Diamonds} turn was not what he was looking for, and neither was the {Q-Clubs} river. Khvitia scored the elimination and grew his already big stack up to 565K.

Belov Busted As Parlafes and Soulier Disagree

We joined the table to see the {3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{J-Clubs} flop laid in the middle of the felt, Fabrice Soulier in the small blind, Vadim Belov all-in in the big blind and Dany Parlafes on the button as the active players.

Soulier and Parlafes checked the {6-Diamonds} turn and the {2-Diamonds} river and when the cards were revealed Parlafes winced.

Soulier: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Parlafes: {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Belov: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

Belov was eliminated, but as he left the tournament area Parlafes informed Soulier, "You could not have played that any worse. If you play a hand well I will complement you, but that was not good."

"Thank you!" replied a defiant Soulier before turning to his fellow countryman Jonathan Khalifa and saying, "We have Italians and Romanians her. We must fight!"

Kings Good For Jelassi

"All in and a call," we heard a dealer yell. When we arrived, Ramzi Jelassi has {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} laid out in front of him while Bastian Fischer held the inferior {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}. The board read {9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{K-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, and while we're not positive, we believe the chips went in preflop. Whatever the case, Fischer saw his stack of approximately 200,000 shipped over to Jelassi.

Drescher Destroyed

Daniel Drescher has been eliminated by his fellow German Martin Hanowski. The chips went into the middle after a brief but explosive preflop raising war, Hanowski holding {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and Drescher {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}.

Hanowski took the lead n the {4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{k-Clubs} flop, and stayed in front as the {6-Clubs} turn and {5-Clubs} river failed to alter matters.

Small One for Brammer

Chris Brammer opened to 10,500 from under the gun, Michele di Lauro three-bet to 24,000 on his direct left, and the action folded back to Brammer, who called.

The flop fell {10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, Brammer checked, and di Lauro tossed out 27,000. Brammer called.

The turn was the {8-Hearts}, both players checked, and the river brought the {3-Hearts}. The pair checked again.

Di Lauro flashed {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} for king-high, and Brammer turned over {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for a pair of fives, winning the hand.
