Villa-Lobos Doubles Through Muhlocker

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Nicolau Villa-Lobos
Nicolau Villa-Lobos

On a {7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop, Nicolau Villa-Lobos check-raised Thomas Muhlocker's 26,000 bet to 56,000.

Muhlocker, who won the High Roller in Barcelona, made the call to see the {J-Spades} where both players checked.

The river was the {10-Clubs} and Villa-Lobos moved all in for his last 200,000 or so. Muhlocker called with {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} but it was no good vs Villa-Lobos {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}.

Moseley Flushed by Kozlov

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Andy Moseley
Andy Moseley

A big hand just took place at the outer table. By the time we arrived action had completed and Andy Moseley was exiting the tournament floor.

From what we could piece together he called off his last 270,000 or so on the river with a board reading {k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Moseley, a well-known cash game player in London and Macau, had the {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} out in front of him. Unfortunately for him, Martin Kozlov held the {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts} for a bigger flush.

Mosely, who you can read more about by clicking here, was eliminated in 19th place.

Katz Runs Out of Lives

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

We're not sure of the preflop action, but we do know that Nicky Katz, who had been grinding a short stack all day, got his last 160,000 all in preflop holding the {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and was up against the {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} of Candido Goncalves. It was a flip, but in this instance Katz would come up empty handed as the board ran out a dry {j-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{8-Spades}.

Katz smiled, shook hands with Goncalves, and then made his way to the payout desk in 20th place.

Yan Discovers the Joy of Six

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Steve Watts
Steve Watts

[Removed:17] opened preflop on the button to 24,000 and Steven Watts moved all in from the big blind. Yan thought for a minute then made the call.

Yan: {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}
Watts: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}

The flop was {3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} and Watts picked up a gutshot, the {4-Hearts} turn changed nothing and the {Q-Hearts} river meant that Watts was eliminated.

Tudor Check-Raise Fails

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Robin Ylitalo
Robin Ylitalo

Heads-up on a {K-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs} board and Tudor Purice fired out a bet of 57,000. Robin Ylitalo made the call to see the {A-Hearts} on the turn.

Purice now checked and the Swede fired out a bet of 102,000 before Purice check-raised to 256,000. Ylitalo carefully considered his options and then made the call.

Both players then checked the {3-Diamonds} on the river. Ylitalo turned over {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, a flush draw that had made top pair and that was enough to win the pot.

Lucky Ace on the River Saves Villa-Lobos

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Action folded to Nicolau Villa-Lobos on the button and he shoved for 160,000. The small blind folded and Georgios Karakousis made a quick call from the big.

Villa-Lobos: {a-Spades}{3-Hearts}
Karakousis: {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The {A-Hearts} in the window looked good for Villa-Lobos, but the {K-Hearts} and {K-Clubs} that followed it on the flop did not. Karakousis flopped trips and left Villa-Lobos in need of an ace. The {4-Clubs} turn was not it, but as you can tell from the title of this post, the river was; in fact, it was the {A-Clubs}!
