Loosli Wins a Race to Entend His Tournament Life

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Action folded to Sylvain Loosli on the button and he put in a min-raise to 6,000. Vadim Belov, who was in the small blind, responded with a three-bet to 19,500, and that inspired the big blind to fold. Loosli then moved all in for 49,200 and Belov wasted little time in making the call.

Loosli: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Belov: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}

It was a race, but Loosli came up empty on the {k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop. A jack would make him a straight, but of course Belov killed two of them. Nonetheless, the {A-Spades} on the turn was even better as Loosli took the lead with a pair of aces. Belov picked up a straight draw of his own, but he missed it as the {4-Diamonds} blanked on the river. Ship the double to the Frenchman.

Sousa Loses Flip To Bust

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Down to just 55,000 Rui Sousa three-bet all-in and before the dealer had given Nihat Karyagdi a count he deemed the all in small enough that his hand was sufficiently strong enough to call the all in, so it was time for a showdown.

Karyagdi: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Sousa: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

The {3-Hearts}{K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{A-Spades}{6-Spades} board ruled decisively in Pollak's favour and Sousa was on his way. 174 left, 151 get paid.

Marc Andre Ladouceur Doubles Through Kitty Kuo

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Marc-Andre Ladouceur
Marc-Andre Ladouceur

There was an open from Sergey Baburin from early position, Marc Andre Ladouceur then three-bet basically all of his 68,000 stack and Kitty Kuo called, thinking that she was calling an all-in. However, Ladouceur still had chips behind, when it got back to Baburin he folded and the two of them saw a {A-}{9-}{10-} flop, Ladoucer committed the rest of his chips with pocket jacks and Kuo called with a set of tens.

The turn was an eight, given Ladouceur straight possibilities and it duly completed on the {Q-} river. He's up to 150,000 whilst Kuo is down to 175,000

Short Stack Scheidt Falls

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Mateusz Zbikowski, a PokerStars qualifier from the UK, raised from under the gun to 6,000. It folded round to short stack Erik Scheidt on the button who moved all in and the blinds quickly folded. Zbikowski asked for a count and made the call with {7-Clubs}{7-Spades} and was up against the {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades} of Scheidt who must have been happy not to see a bigger ace. The board ran out {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades}{k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}, Scheidt was unable to hit one of his cards and he was eliminated on the second hand.

Respect The Three-Bet?

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

No eliminations to report but that doesn't mean that there hasn't been action, just that most of it has come pre-flop. Christian Golob four-bet all in for an effective 117,000. Dimitrios Kalaroutis, who had three-bet to 16,300 was weighing up his decision and after Golob said he'd show one if Kalaroutis folded the Greek PokerStars qualifier did just that. Golob let him pick the card and showed the {A-Hearts} as he took the pot.

A couple of tables over Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier opened to 6,000 from the hi-jack only to have the player to his immediate left - Lucas Reeves - three-bet to 15,000 - it folded back to ElkY and he tank folded.

Whilst on table 23 it was Norway on Norway action as Morten Klein three-bet Jan Sjavik and the latter called to see a {3-Spades}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts} flop, Klein continuation bet 10,000 but folded when Sjavik raised to 30,000.

Staszko Busto, Little Robusto

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

2011 WSOP Main Event runner up Martin Staszko (behind Pius Heinz for $5,433,086) has just been eliminated from the Main Event.

Staszko started out short and never got anything going. Just now action folded to the button where Jonathan Little was seated with a monster stack. Little opened to 6,000 and Staszko shoved from the small blind. It wasn't entirely clear for how much Staszko shoved as Little called immediately after Duhamel had folded his big blind.

Little had the best hand with {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, Staszko tabled {A-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Hopes for a split pot of some sort were fading after the {8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop and went out the window with the {10-Clubs} on the turn. Just a three could save Staszko nog but a {J-Diamonds} popped up instead. Staszko shook hands with Little and exited the tournament room.

Huge Pot for Sammartino

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Dario Sammartino opened for 6,000 and was called from the button by Kirill Shugai. Short stack Erik Scheidt folded the small blind and Jonathan Duhamel made the call. Three players saw the flop of {2-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{10-Spades}. Duhamel checked and the pre-fop raiser continued for 8,500. Shugai and Duhamel left them to it. Turn card {6-Diamonds} and now Sammartino checked it over to Shugai who bet 12,500 only to be faced by a check-raise to 38,000. He gave it some thought and made the call seeing the river card fall the {q-Spades}. Sammartino now led for a big bet of 116,000. Shugai got the dealer to clarify the bet, counted out the call from his stack and slid it forward to call. Sammartino turned over {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for the flopped set and that was the winning hand as Shugai mucked his hand.
