Welcome back to our coverage of season 10 of the European Poker Tour! Today marks the beginning of the €10,000 buy in High Roller event. Last year, France's Laurent Polito took down this event and pocketed €270,229 in first-place prize money along with the trophy and the ever-coveted Shamballa Jewels bracelet.
Last year this event turned out 111 entries where the top 12 cashed. Champion Polito bested Alex Bilokur during heads up play and a final table that included Tobias Reinkemeier, Jean-Noel Thorel, and Bertrand "ElkY' Grospellier. Players to make the money but miss out on the final table last year include Kristijonas Andrulis, Jonathan Duhamel and Andrew Lichtenberger.
We're likely to see faces of many recognizable players in the field today. As the Main Event is down to the final 79 of the 1,234 entrants, many players are in the area, out of the Main, and ready to be crowned the next high roller champion. We're certain we'll see the likes of pros like Jason Mercier, Daniel Negreanu, and many other regulars to the tournament circuit.
