Aido Gone; Kurganov Thrives

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Igor Kurganov and Sergio Aido took a flop of {K-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} in a raised pot. Kurganov was first to act post-flop and checked over to his opponent. Aido shot out a bet of an unknown amount and Kurganov came right over the top for 11,500 total.

Aido wasted little time shipping all in over the top for what looked to be around 50,000 total. Kurganov called and the hands were shown.

Aido: {Ks]{10-Diamonds}
Kurganov: {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

Kurganov was in the lead with his kings and a queen kicker, and kept that lead even as the board paired on the turn and river with the {A-Diamonds} and {A-Hearts}. Aido took his leave and Kugranov brought his stack up to about 265,000.

Thorel Vs. Rheem

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Chino Rheem
Chino Rheem

Jean-Noel Thorel is back in action at high roller event having played the Super High Roller and the Main Event. He’s currently on his second bullet in this event and is proving a tricky customer as usual at the table. In this hand he tangled with Chino Rheem.

Rheem opened for 3,800 and was three bet from the small blind by Thorel to 14,000. The big blind folded and Rhemm made the call. The flop was {9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{a-Hearts} and Thorel moved all in for 55,000. Rheem could hardly believe this move was being made on him and seemed to be contemplating the call. “You’re probably going to win sir.” Rheem eventually thought better of it and folded.

Yong Spikes the River; Duval Ousted by Mercier

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

With 28,000 or so in the pot and a flop of {10-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, Richard Young led out for 12,000 from the small blind only to have Nadar Kakhmazov raise to 35,000 from middle position. Yong quickly collected his chips, stacked them and slid them into the pot for an all-in shove of 83,000. Kakhmazov snap-called.

Yong: {a-}{q-}
Kakhmazov: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Yong had flopped top pair, but it was no good as Kakhmazov held two pair. The {3-Spades} turn was of no consequence, and that meant Yong needed to catch a queen on the river to stay alive. Amazingly, much like Carter Gill's opponent did in last week's viral poker video, he did just that when the {Q-Spades} rolled off.

"Yes," the Macau high roller cheered.

Meanwhile, World Series of Poker bracelet winner Jason Duval was eliminated by Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier.

Haigh Talked Into a Call by Negreanu

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

It was folded round to Robert Haigh’s small blind and Daniel Negreanu was waiting for him in the big blind, rooted to his chair having a very calming massage. “What do you wanna do?” Negreanu started talking to him. Haigh smiled and decided to just complete the blind. Negreanu flicked out a bet to 5,200. “More, gimme more. Yum yum.” He implored the German. Haigh did as requested and put out the extra chips. They saw a flop of {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and both checked. The turn was a {7-Clubs}. Haigh bet 5,000 and Negreanu called to see a river {2-Spades}. They both checked, Negreanu had {a-Hearts}{10-Spades} but Haigh rivered him with {a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} much to Negrenu’s amusement. “You have it, right? He’s like I won’t bluff anymore.”

Pique Picks a Pocket

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

A turn card of {4-Clubs} and Watson decided to slow down and check it over Pique. Sensing an opportunity Pique, bet 7,000 and Watson had to lay his cards down to the aggression.

Barbosa Busted by Katchalov

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Eugene Katchalov raised to 2,700 from his button and Gerard Piqué called from the small blind. Joao Barbosa peeked at his hand from the big blind and then put in an all-in three-bet for 28,100. Katchalov called and Piqué folded his cards.

Katchalov: {A-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Barbosa: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

The two were racing for Barbosa's tournament life heading to the flop. Katchalov seized a tight grip on the hand after pairing his ace as the first three cards read {2-Spades}{A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. The turn and river brought the {3-Spades} and the {J-Clubs} and Barbosa was sent to the rail just like that. Katchlov continued his hot streak and scooped up new chips that brought him to 230,000.
