EPT Barcelona €10,000 High Roller Breaks Record

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

The €10,000 High Roller here at the kickoff festival for Season 10 on the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour has set the record for a high roller event of the same buy-in on the EPT. Last season, the EPT record for a €10,000 High Roller event was broken four separate times: Barcelona, Prague, London, and Berlin. Coming into the start of this event, the EPT Berlin High Roller had the record with 140 entries, but that has since been smashed with the performance of this event in Barcelona.

The EPT Barcelona €10,000 High Roller attracted 138 unique players, and those players generated 42 re-entries for a total field size of 180 entries. That is a 28.6% increase over the record previously set, and an absolutely great showing.

Once the prize pool and payout information is released, PokerNews will promptly post it for your viewing pleasure.

Adams Doubles

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

We arrived at the table to find the aftermath of a hand where Timothy Adams doubled through Sam Greenwood. We're not sure of the exact action, but know that Adams' {Q-Hearts}{9-Spades} beat Greenwood's {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} on a hand where the completed board read {Q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Spades}{A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}. Adams was all in for roughly 55,000 and was able to score a double up, knocking Greenwood to about 170,000 in the process.

Berende Sent Off By Piqué

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

After Gerard Piqué limped in from under the gun, Paul Berende raised all in from the cutoff seat for 18,100. Piqué called holding the {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, and Berende was at risk with the {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}.

The flop gave Berende the lead with the {K-Hearts}{5-Spades}{4-Spades} falling. The turn was the {Q-Spades}, then the river was the {A-Hearts}. With the ace on the river, Piqué retook the lead and won the hand. He eliminated Berende and moved back to 340,000 in chips.

Backdoor Flush for Yong

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Sam Chartier bet 13,000 on the {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Spades}{10-Diamonds} board with Gerard Piqué and Richard Yong behind him. Piqué folded, but Yong raised to 34,000. Chartier called.

The river was the {3-Diamonds}, bringing in a backdoor flush draw. Chartier checked, Yong bet 46,000, and Chartier called. Yong tabled the {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for a diamond flush, and Chartier mucked his hand.

Baranov Busts

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Robert Haigh raised to 6,100 from early position and Sergii Baranov moved out 105,300 total, leaving himself just 2,100 back. Haigh called and put Baranov all in in the dark. The dealer produced a flop of {7-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and Baranov called, thus allowing the hands to be rolled on their backs.

Baranov: {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Haigh: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Haigh was way out in front and stayed that way as the {9-Hearts} hit the turn and the {4-Hearts} hit the river. Baranov made his leave and Haigh increased his stack to around 280,000.
