There is a lot of excitement in the air already as yesterday the Estrellas Barcelona €1,100 Main Event attracted an astounding 1,798 players to create a €1,744,060 prize pool, of which €298,600 will go to the winner. That event is likely to not only be the biggest ever live tournament held by PokerStars, but thought also to be one the biggest ever fields of that buy-in ever held outside of the World Series of Poker.

In that Estrellas Main Event, just 558 players made it through to Day 2 in that tournament including Team PokerStars Pros Rino Mathis, Christophe De Meulder, Richard Toth, Marcin Horecki, Angel Guillen, Juan Manuel Pastor, and Andre Akkari ,plus Friend of PokerStars Charlotte Van Brabander. French PokerStars qualifier Julien Gaston, who played Day 1a, remains the chip leader with 282,800. While PokerNews won't be live reporting that event, we'll be sure to bring you periodic updates as well as a full recap once a winner is determined.

Meanwhile, the elite event on hand today, the three-day €50,000 Super High Roller, kicks off at noon and all players will begin with 250,000 in chips. The blinds kick off at 500/1,000/100 with all levels lasting an hour in length. Join us then as we bring you all the action straight from the floor of the Casino Barcelona.
