Day 5 Started

The Chase For The Final Table is On!

Roman Herold
Roman Herold

With just 17 players remaining the final table is in reach for all who still have chips. Chip leader Roman Herold has a big lead over the rest of the field but nothing is set in stone just yet. Everyone who's still in the tournament is guaranteed to make at least €27,000 and the eight finalist will at least get €77,000 if they make it through today.

The German players make out the majority of the remaining players with eight of the top nine coming from the host country. A collection other players is aiming for a place on the final table but the Germans are the heavy favorite. Daniel-Gai Pidun has one of the most interesting stories as he finished 17th last year in this event and ninth the year before.

Kevin Stani is the only remaining EPT winner with a shot at becoming the first ever two-time champion. Top pros Olivier Busquet and Calvin Anderson are among the shortest stacks but both still have a good chance at making the final table.

Anderson Moves in

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

On the first hand of the day it was Dashgyn Aliev who raised to 65,000 under the gun plus one. The action was folded to Calvin Anderson who moved all in from the small blind for 557,000. Aliev went into the tank for a while before kicking in his cards.

The first pot went to Anderson who has an uphill battle ahead of him with still a lot less than the average stack.

It's a new day but some things don't change. More chips for Roman Herold.

Daniel-Gai Pidun raised from under the gun and Herold peeled from the big blind to see a {5-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{2-Clubs} appear.

The action was checked to the {5-Spades} turn where Herold led for 76,000. Call. Pidun also called a 126,000 bet on the {3-Diamonds} river and folded upon seeing the chip leader's {a-Spades}{2-Spades}.

Anderson Does it Again

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Four hands have been played so far on the feature table and Calvin Anderson was involved in all of them. Anderson just won a big pot to put him a lot closer to the rest of the players he's up against.

Anderson raised from the cutoff to 60,000 and Dashgyn Aliev defended his big blind. The flop brought {K-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Aliev check-called 60,000. On the turn the {9-Clubs} hit and both players quickly checked.

The river brought the {J-Clubs} and Aliev cehcked again. Anderson went into the tank for a while before throwing out a 200,000-chip bet. Aliev quickly called but mucked when he saw Anderson's {J-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.
