Julian Thomas

Matias Kesanen raised to 60,000 from the cutoff and Julian Thomas called from the button. Khiem Nguyen three-bet from the button to 200,000 and Kesanen went into the tank for several minutes. Eventually the clock was called on the Finnish player and he decided to fold.

Thomas made the call and the flop showed {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. Nguyen decided to check and Thomas bet 110,000. Nguyen called the small bet and the turn brought the {5-Clubs}. This time Nguyen check-called a small 164,000-chip bet.

On the river the {10-Hearts} hit and Nguyen checked again. Thomas threw out 153,000 and Nguyen tanked for a while before making the call. Thomas showed {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} and took down this big pot.

Matias Kesanen Playing at Turtle Speed

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Matias Kesanen
Matias Kesanen

Finnish player Matias Kesanen has been taking at least 90 seconds for every decision since the start of the day and therefor play has slowed down considerably. Kesanen had the clock called on him numerous times already but he continues to play slow.

The tournament director has announced that he will check Kesanen's cards to see if he has a genuine decision if this situation keeps occurring. With just 17 players left we are on a €5,000 money bubble right now.

Stani Busts and a New Champion Will be Crowned

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Once again the EPT will have a debut champion after the exit of Kevin Stani.

Stani: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Herold: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Daniel-Gai Pidun has had the best combined results in EPT Berlin over a three years stretch but he's still waiting for the one big score. Pidun finished 17th and ninth in previous years and he was just close to adding a 16th place to that list.

Pidun ended up all in preflop for 985,000 against Khiem Nguyen and the showdown went as following.

Daniel-Gai Pidun: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}
Khiem Nguyen: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}

The board ran out {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{K-Diamonds} and Pidun stayed alive after catching a flush on the river to beat Nguyen's pair of aces.
