Vandersmissen Forces Same Hand to Fold

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Kevin Vandersmissen
Kevin Vandersmissen

It looks like Amichai Barer just folded the same hand as Kevin Vandersmissen to allow the EPT Snowfest runner-up to add even more chips to his stack.

Barer opened to 2,000 in early position and Vandersmissen three-bet to 4,900 from the button. Barer checked his cards, then folded, showing the {J-Spades} as he did. Vandersmissen responded by turning over the {J-Clubs} and commented that he thought they had the same hand. Vandermissen then showed the {A-Diamonds} and Barer said a simple, "Yes."

Danchev Destroyed

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The High Roller has just lost the PCA champion Dimitar Danchev. He was seen walking out of the tournament area while Anton Wigg was re-stacking his chips, so it is safe to say Wigg was Danchev's executioner.

Heinzelmann in the House

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Serial EPT second place finishers (OK he finished as runner-up in two main events) Max Heinzelmann has just bought in and is in his seat. The young German is bound to be a pain in the neck for his new table mates.

Roed House

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Kent Roed utilised Timothy Adams and Andras Nemeth to help him build a bigger stack.

The three took to a {j-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{q-Hearts} flop where Adams bet 4,600 from the button. Nemeth called from the big blind and so did Roed from early position.

On the {7-Hearts} turn it was Roed who came out firing for 7,500. Only Nemeth called to see the {7-Clubs} river. Nemeth checked again to see his opponent bet 15,000 after some considerable chip fiddling. Nemeth tanked and made the call only to muck upon seeing Roed's {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for a full house.

Alvarado Benefits From El Hoss

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
JC Alvarado
JC Alvarado

What a hand! We couldn't believe it, JC Alvarado couldn't believe it, we doubt you will believe it either!

Martin Jacobson was under the gun and he raised to 2,000. Ghassan El Hoss was to Jacobson's direct left and he flat-called. The action then passed around to Alvarado in the cutoff and the Mexican raised to 6,800. This raise forced Jacobson out of the pot and he folded — all standard so far.

El Hoss then raised to 16,000, which gave Alvarado something to think about. He did think, for about 45 seconds, before five-betting to 34,800. A few moments later El Hoss moved all in and Alvarado called off his 76,300 chips that he had behind.

Alvarado: {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}
El Hoss: {3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

As you can see, El Hoss was not exactly holding a premium hand! The perfect ending to this hand would be a crazy board but it ran out {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{5-Spades}{10-Clubs}{6-Spades}, Alvarado's jacks held and he is now the High Roller's chip leader.

So Long, Anton

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Imad Derwiche - "I knew he only had aone heart!"
Imad Derwiche - "I knew he only had aone heart!"

Ionel Anton has left the building. The smiley, happy Romanian saw a very good looking flop for his hand; it didn't end well though.

Ramin Hajiyev opened the pot with as raise to 2,000 and he was called in three spots en route to a {2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{j-Hearts} flop.

The action was checked to Imad Derwiche in the cut-off and he bet 5,500. Anton, in the big blind, check-raised all in for 19,500. All the others got out of the way to leave Derwich to call after declaring that he thought Anton only had one heart.

He was right as the Romanian opened {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} although he did have a pair as well. Derwiche opened {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} for a set and faded hearts through the {9-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} turn and river.

Reload!

Bryn Kenney and Dorin Rauta have both just busted out of the tournament, but we will be seeing them again because they have both just reloaded for another €10,000.

Ace from Space for Janos

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Janos Nagygyorgy opened with a raise from the hijack seat, then Tom Cybulski made it 6,000 from the cutoff and it folded back around. Nagygyorgy four-bet to 13,800, and when Cybulski pushed all in Nagygyorgy made the call.

Nagygyorgy tabled {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} and Cybulski {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}. Cybulski remained best through the {4-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop and {Q-Diamonds} turn, but the {A-Spades} spiked on the river, giving Nagygyorgy the big 100,000-plus chip pot.

"Sorry," said Nagygyorgy afterwards to Cybulski, who insisted he didn't need to say so. "I know," continued Nagygyorgy, continuing to shake his head at his good fortune.
