Gaens Doubles Through Leader Castaignon

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Remi Castaignon had a great first hour today on Day 5 to push up over 3.3 million and into the chip lead. But he's just given a few back to Noel Gaens after the latter scored a double up through the Frenchman.

The hand began with Castaignon raising to 50,000 from middle position, then watching Gaens push all in for 675,000 from a couple of seats over. It folded back to Castaignon who smiled at Gaens as he thought through his decision, clearly on the fence over whether or not to call.

Finally Castaignon did, showing {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} to Gaens's {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. The flop came {4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} to give Gaens the lead in the hand, and after the {3-Clubs} turn and {6-Clubs} river Gaens picked up the pot.

The pair bumped fists after the hand. "You can afford it," said Gaens, and Remington continued to smile as he carved out the chips he owed.
