Professional Acting

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Faraz Jaka
Faraz Jaka

Faraz Jaka and Eric Sfez were heads up on a queen-high board with two fives and two clubs. Jaka was faced with a 27,000-chip bet, and went into the tank.

"Show one if you fold?" Jaka asked.

"Yes," Sfez agreed. "I can show one."

There were a few seconds of silence.

"You have seven-five?" Sfez asked. "I'll show one."

Jaka tanked for a little longer, laughed, then called, ripping over {q-}{9-}. The player unhappily mucked his hand.

"You promised you'd show," Jaka needled. "Are you a professional actor?"

The very next hand, Sfez opened to 5,000 on middle position, and Jaka three-bet to 14,100 from the small blind.

"That's what you get for lying," Jaka said.

Sfez called, and the dealer fanned {a-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. Jaka led out for 12,000, Sfez called, and the turn brought the {q-Clubs}. Jaka checked, Sfez tanked for two minutes then fired 26,200, and Jaka snap-called.

The river was the {2-Spades}, Jaka checked again, and after a very long time, Sfez checked behind. Jaka would reveal his cards until either Sfez tabled his cards or mucked them, and eventually he showed ten-high. Jaka flipped over {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}.

"Professional actor!" both Kevin MacPhee and Jason Lavallee said mockingly after the hand.

Look at Him! He Runs Like a Welshman!

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Roberto Romanello
Roberto Romanello

Roberto Romanello opened to 8,100 preflop from middle position, Anaras Alekberovas flat-called as did Team PokerStars Pro Vicky Coren from the big blind.

The flop was {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Spades} and it was checked to Alekberovas who bet 21,000. Coren called but Romanello now check-raised to 65,000. Alekberovas opted to call and Coren folded.

The {3-Diamonds} came on the turn and Romanello checked again, Alekberovas bet a reasonably small 35,000. Romanello check-raised all in and Alekberovas instantly called.

Oh boy.

Romanello: {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}
Alekberovas: {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

Flopped quads against a flopped boat, Romanello was drawing dead and the river was the {3-Diamonds}. Slightly stunned, he left the table.

Kitai Busts in Three-Way All-In Pot

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Davidi Kitai - Eliminated
Davidi Kitai - Eliminated

Scott Seiver open-shoved for 64,000 on the button, Davidi Kitai re-shoved for around 150,000 from the small blind, and Anaras Alekberovas called in the big blind.

Seiver: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Kitai: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Alekberovas: {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}

The {j-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop was very dry.

"This is the start to an epic comeback," Seiver announced.

Right on cue, the turn brought the {4-Hearts}, giving Kitai seven more outs to make a flush.

"Turn these into spades!" he said, grabbing Kitai's cards.

The {4-Diamonds} bricked on the river however, and Seiver tripled up. Kitai was eliminated by Alekberovas.

The players are now moving to the final two tables.

Quoss Folds to River Check-Shove from Coren

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Vicky Coren
Vicky Coren

Fabian Quoss opened to 18,000 from under the gun, and the action folded to Vicky Coren, who snap-called from the small blind. Talal Shakerchi joined the party, defending his big blind, and the dealer fanned {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. All three players checked.

The turn was a repeat king - the {k-Diamonds} - and Coren led out for 15,000. Shakerchi folded, Quoss raised to 55,000, and Coren called.

The river was the {8-Clubs}, and Coren checked. Quoss slid forward 110,000, and after mulling the decision over for a bit, Coren check-raised all in for 330,000. Quoss went deep into the tank.

After a minute passed by, he apologized to the table. He apologized again after another minute or two passed, laughed, then begrudgingly mucked his hand. Coren instantly sent her hand into the muck.

A Gruissem End for Philipp

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Philipp Gruissem
Philipp Gruissem

Just as Faraz Jaka was calling all in to survive, Philipp Gruissem had his own problems. He'd opened to 20,000 in early position and JC Alvarado had made it 50,000 in middle position. Gruissem shoved and Alvarado instantly called.

Gruissem: {3-Clubs}{3-Spades}
Alvarado: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}

The board came {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} - no help to either and Gruissem, who won this event last year, can only be the bubble boy this time.

Scott Seiver - 14th Place
Scott Seiver - 14th Place

Talal Shakerchi opened to 21,000 in the hijack seat, JC Alvarado called in the small blind, and Scott Seiver jammed for 164,000. Shakerchi mulled the decision over for 10 seconds or so before folding, and Alvarado tanked for a little more, then called.

Alvarado: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}
Seiver: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

There was an ace in the window of the {7-Spades}{j-Clubs}{a-Hearts} flop, giving Alvarado a decisive lead with his pair of aces. The turn and river came {j-Hearts}, {6-Hearts} respectively, and Seiver was eliminated.

He wished the table luck as he was off to collect his £24,170 14th-place prize.

Jaka Wins a Monster

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Faraz Jaka
Faraz Jaka

Dimitar Danchev opened to 24,000 from the cutoff seat, Faraz Jaka three-bet to 61,000 from the small blind, and Eric Sfez removed his headphones before cold four-betting to 152,000 from the big blind. Danchev quickly mucked, and the action was back on Jaka.

He asked the dealer to pull the bets it, and once the dealer obliged, Jaka five-bet to 251,000. Sfez took a long drag from his electric cigarette, stared off into the nothingness, then made the call.

The dealer fanned {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, and Jaka led out for 115,000. Sfez instantly called.

The turn was the {a-Clubs}, Jaka checked, and Sfez tanked for nearly two minutes before checking behind.

The {q-Hearts} completed the board, Jaka checked again, and Sfez once again sat quietly for over a minute or so then knuckled behind. Jaka turned over {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} for a pair of kings, and Sfez mucked his hand.

Jaka, who was once down to 70,000 chips, is now up to 1.1 million, while Sfez stumbled down to 450,000.
