Ladouceur Busts Rettenmaier; Creeping Up to 200K

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Marvin Rettenmaier - Eliminated
Marvin Rettenmaier - Eliminated

When we reached the table, Marc-Andre Ladouceur and Marvin Rettenmaier were heads up on a flop of {6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. Rettenmaier checked, Ladouceur tossed out 2,600, and Rettenmaier called.

The turn was a third diamond - the {7-Diamonds} - and Rettenmaier checked again. Ladouceur fired a second bullet worth 6,800, and Rettenmaier called.

The {2-Spades} completed the board, and Rettenmaier checked a third time. Ladouceur tanked for a bit, then slid out a large tower of blue T5,000 chips, putting Rettenmaier all in. The bet was worth around 32,000, which was more than the pot, and Rettenmaier thought for over two minutes before calling.

Ladouceur flipped over {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a turned flush, and Rettenmaier mucked his hand. Mad Marvin hit the rail, while Ladouceur is now flirting with a 200,000-chip stack.

Ladouceur at it Again

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Marc-Andre Ladouceur seems to like to raise when he has plenty of chips. Scratch that. Ladouceur seems to like to raise a lot when he has chips. Just ask Luke Greenwood.

The Canadian opened from mid-position before Ladouceur three-bet to 2,025 from the cut-off. Greenwood came back with a four-bet to 5,125, only for Ladouceur to five-bet to 8,625. Greenwood called with around 25,000 behind.

The flop fell {5-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Greenwood folded to a 5,500 bet from Ladouceur.

Sarwer Flush with Chips

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Jeff Sarwer
Jeff Sarwer

Jeff Sarwer is appearing in the blog and it's not because his aces have been cracked, and that makes a nice change for both parties.

The Canadian three-bet to 1,425 after Patrick Uzan opened to 625. Call. The flop appeared as {9-Hearts}{4-Spades}{q-Spades} and Uzan checked to face 1,450 bet. Call again.

On the {k-Spades} turn Uzan refused to budge and check-called a 2,750 bet to see the {7-Hearts} river appear. Sarwer saw his third bullet for 7,750 called before he opened {a-Spades}{8-Spades} for the nut flush. Uzan mucked.

Use the Schwartz

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Luke Schwartz, who has been sandwiched in one of those corner tables, has just managed to double up through the poker legend that is Chris Bjorin. It looked as though all the money went in preflop with Schwartz' {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} staying ahead of Bjorin's {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} on a board that read {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.

Wojciech Barzantny Leaves The Building

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

The back-to-back UKIPT winner, Wojciech Barzantny, has been eliminated in the fifth level of play. We didn’t see the hand, but were told by the table that he appeared somewhat tilted when he moved all-in with ‘not a very good hand.’ Campan Cristian Marius eliminated the German star after calling with a 'better hand.'

Oluwole Makes Hero Call; Wins Massive Pot

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Seun Oluwole and Joao Vieira were heads up on a board of {10-Spades}{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Spades}. Oluwole checked, and Vieira moved all in for 27,825 - a pot-sized bet.

Oluwole went deep into the tank, taking so long that the clock was called on him. With 30 second left to act, he cut all of the blue T5,000 chips out of his stack, and committed them.

"Good call," Vieira muttered, tabling {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} for ace-high.

Oluwole flipped over {10-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for a winning pair of tens, and raked in the pot. He now sits with around 87,000 chips.

News in Brief

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
  • Who's the daddy on table 9? Marvin Rettenmaier it turns out, for now. His raise 9,325 from the big blind was enough to force a fold from the monster-stacked Marc-Andre Ladouceur in the cut-off. The former grew to 56,000, the latter dropped to 110,000.
  • James Mitchell is back above his starting stack. He raised to 600 and called when a player on the button three-bet to 1,750 on the button. Mitchell led for 3,000 and 7,000 on the flop and turn of a {q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{6-Spades} board. The second barrel forced a fold from his opponent.
  • Michel Dattani is up to 85,000 after he made a considered call on the river of a {3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Spades} board. He bet 11,500 and called when Julian Stuer check-raised to 28,000.
