Welcome to Day 3 of PokerStars.com EPT London

The London Eye
The London Eye

Just 113 players remain going into the third day of the main event here in the Grosvenor Victoria casino on Edgeware Road. There's £700,000 for first place but 17 players will be going home today with nothing, not even making the min-cash of £8,000 for a 96th place finish.

Mantas Visockis is the chip leader at the moment, being one of only two players over the 500,000 mark but there's still several former EPT champions and Team PokerStars Pros in the event.

Today we have the drama of the bubble which should take place in the first couple of levels. We're not sure just yet as to how many levels we will be playing today, but they're all 90 minutes long from now on.

Play is scheduled to get underway shortly.

Blom Crushes Luske's Dreams

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Marcel Luske
Marcel Luske

"How many times can this happen in a tournament?" Team PokerStars Pro Marcel Luske asked himself after he just lost a massive pot to Full Tilt's Professional Viktor Blom.

Luske was just very, very unlucky and looked more devastated then we've ever seen the jolly Dutchman.

The action started with a raise to 6,000 from middle position and Blom three-bet to 17,600 from small blind. Luske sat in the big blind and quickly four-bet to 42,700. The initial raiser folded his cards, Blom peeked down at his and moved all in. Luske snap-called.

Marcel Luske: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}
Viktor Blom: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

The board ran out {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Spades} and Luske was left behind with just 27,600 chips. Blom sat in silence as the dealer pushed him a huge pot which puts him on roughly twice the average stack.

Sheringham Short of the Money

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Teddy Sheringham on Day 2
Teddy Sheringham on Day 2

Teddy Sheringham was never the fastest player on the pitch (fastest mind though) when he was still playing so it seems fitting he lost a race to bust EPT London.

Manig Loeser opened to 6,000 from under the gun and Sheringham called from the next seat along with Gert Zumkehr before Pasi Sormunen squeezed to 24,000 from the big blind. Loeser and Zumkehr folded but Sheringham shoved for 83,600. Call.

Sheringham: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Sormunen: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

The board ran {10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} to make Broadway for the Finn.

Mercier Catches Three-Outer to Survive

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Jason Mercier on Day 2, looking scary.
Jason Mercier on Day 2, looking scary.

Matthias Tikerpe opened to 6,100 from UTG and received two calls from Timo Pfutzenreuter and Daniel Erlandsson before Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier squeezed all in from the big blind for just over 120,000.

Tikerpe quickly called, Pfutzenreuter and Erlandsson folded.

Tikerpe: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Mercier: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

Mercier needed one of the three bullets to survive and it looked to be all over until he hit right on the end with the "Barry Greenstein Special" - an Ace on the River.

The board was {5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{A-Clubs} and Mercier doubled up to about 250,000.

Ashton Bubbles EPT London

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Matthew Ashton
Matthew Ashton

Matthew Ashton was all in from UTG for his last 5,500 and got called by Stephen Lacey on the button, Pasi Sormunen in the small blind and Manig Loeser in the big blind.

The three remaining players checked the {10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} board all the way to the river where Lacey bet 7,000, Sormunen made the call and Loeser folded.

Ashton: {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Sormunen: {K-Spades}{J-Spades}
Lacey: {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

Lacey's straight scooped the pot and Ashton, who started today as one of the chip leaders has to go home in 97th place, everyone else is in the money.

Great Debut, Leo!

Leo Margets
Leo Margets

She came, she saw, she cashed on her debut. Team PokerStars Pro Leo Margets may be out but she has a flag on her first EPT outing for her new employers.

The action folded around to her on the button and she shoved her last 31,000 chips into the middle. Renato Almeida was in the big blind and shoved as well.

Margets: {j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
Almeida: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The board ran {6-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades}{k-Clubs}.

The flop was almost as good as she could've hoped for but she failed to hit.

David Vamplew

David Vamplew, champion from London two seasons ago, has been eliminated.

He was on the feature table and made his move with around 20 big blinds and was given action by George Meitanis.

Vamplew: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Meitanis: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The board ran {j-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Spades}{7-Diamonds}.

The flop left Vamplew looking for two outs in the deck but they failed to appear.

Christopher Frank has beeen on a tear the last level or so doubling his stack in the process. The latest player to get in his way was David Williams.

The Team PokerStars Pro was down to around 80,000 when he three bet all in with ace-queen. Frank made the call with the inferior ace-nine but sucked out to move clear at the top of the counts.

The When Will it End Chronicles: Jason Mercier Wins an iPhone 5

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Jason Mercier - Does bet money, but also iPhone 5s evidently.
Jason Mercier - Does bet money, but also iPhone 5s evidently.

After losing a large, three-bet pot to Fredrik Andersson during the last level, Jason Mercier received a bit of a needle from Kitty Kuo.

"He bluffed you," Kuo told the Team PokerStars Pro.

Mercier disagreed, prompting Kuo to ask him whether or not he wanted to make a bet.

"I'll bet anything up to $1,000," Mercier told her.

"No," she responded. "I don't bet money."

There was a beat.

"What?" Mercier said, confused.

"I don't bet money," Kuo repeated.

Mercier was a bit stunned by this, and thinking that the amount was perhaps too high, he offered a smaller bet size.

"Let's just do $100."

"I don't bet money," she said for a third time.

Chris Moorman, Ruben Visser, and Matthias Tikerpe , who were also at the table, started to laugh.

"Let's bet an iPhone 5," Kuo offered.

"But that costs money," Mercier said, chuckling very loudly. "I still have the 4s. I don't know if I'm ready for the 5."

"You two should just exchange gifts," Visser interjected.

"You're betting money right now," Mercier told Kuo. "You bought in with money."

"I don't bet money," Kuo repeated once again.

Despite his curiosity — and unwillingness to go shopping for an iPhone 5 if he lost — Mercier booked the mobile bet. The two asked Andersson whether or not he was bluffing, and according to the Swede, he was not.

We hope Mr. Mercier is finally ready for the 5.
