Blom Busts into the Break

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Viktor Blom
Viktor Blom

Viktor Blom is no more. He busted in a hand from the feature table that went into the break.

The details are vague but what is known is that the Full Tilt Professional shoved all in on a {7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} with {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} with the action three handed.

It was a pretty good flop for Blom but it was better for Mantas Visockis who called with pocket tens for top set. The board ran out {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and fan boys around the world are crying onto their keyboards.

"I Don't Like It, But I Call"

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Fredrik Andersson and Pasi Sormunen were heads up on a flop of {7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{k-Hearts}. Sormunen checked, Andersson fired 14,000, and Sormunen sloppily check-raised to 28,000. Andersson upped the ante, re-raising to 47,000, and Sormunen made it four-bets, pushing out 78,000.

Andersson tanked for a minute or so, then moved all in for 176,000.

"I don't like it," Sormunen said. "But I call."

Sormunen: {k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Andersson: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Andersson was well ahead, but the {8-Spades} on the turn gave Sormunen a gut-shot straight draw. The river was three-sided, but the {8-Diamonds} was a brick, and Andersson doubled to around 400,000 chips.

Sormunen is still among the leaders with 1.14 million.

Quads For Refos

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Raoul Refos raised under the gun to 12,000 and Jonathan Concepcion called from middle position. The flop rolled out {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Refos bet 13,000, Concepcion called.

On the turn the {2-Hearts} hit and Refos bet 24,000, Concepcion called again. The river brought the {6-Clubs} and now the Dutchman bet 82,000. Concepcion moved all in and Refos snap-called as soon as he noticed that his opponent had put him to the test.

Refos turned over {6-Spades}{6-Hearts} for rivered quads while Concepcion had been ahead the whole way with {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}. Refos is very much alive with an above average stack while Concepcion was left behind crippled.

Italy vs. Italy

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Salvatore Bonavena opened to 12,000 from the hijack seat, Raoul Refos called in the cutoff, and Giuseppe Sammartino defended his big blind.

The flop fell {j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{a-Spades}, and Sammartino checked. Bonavena continued for 22,000, Refos folded, and Sammartino called.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds}, Sammartino checked again, and Bonavena fired 45,000. Sammartino check-raised all in for effectively 150,000, and Bonavena instantly folded his cards.

Sammartino is now up to 470,000 chips, while his fellow countryman is struggling with only 105,000.

Tough One For Personen

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

We caught the action with a ton of chips already in the pot when the board read {4-Clubs}{2-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Hearts}. Lauri Personen checked to John O'Shea who bet 107,000. Personen went into the tank for a long time and then made the call.

The river brought out the {8-Diamonds} and Personen checked again. O'Shea moved all in and sat motionless as Personen was contemplating a call. The Finnish player went into the tank for several minutes while Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier was explaining Team PokerStars Pro Theo Jorgensen that he was playing 50 games of Open Faced Chinese Poker on his iPad. Jorgensen seemed impressed and interested while Personen had a hard time making up his mind.

Ultimately Personen folded and O'Shea took down this pot.
