Rum Deal

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

John O'Shea opened to 15,000 from middle position and Rumit Somaiya flat-called in the big blind. The flop came {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and Somaiya check-raised all in over the top of the Irishman's 15,000 continuation bet. Instant call.

O'Shea: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Somaiya: {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

There were blanks on the {6-Clubs} turn and the {3-Clubs} river and Somaiya was eliminated.

The When Will it End Chronicles: Jason Mercier Wins an iPhone 5

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Jason Mercier - Does bet money, but also iPhone 5s evidently.
Jason Mercier - Does bet money, but also iPhone 5s evidently.

After losing a large, three-bet pot to Fredrik Andersson during the last level, Jason Mercier received a bit of a needle from Kitty Kuo.

"He bluffed you," Kuo told the Team PokerStars Pro.

Mercier disagreed, prompting Kuo to ask him whether or not he wanted to make a bet.

"I'll bet anything up to $1,000," Mercier told her.

"No," she responded. "I don't bet money."

There was a beat.

"What?" Mercier said, confused.

"I don't bet money," Kuo repeated.

Mercier was a bit stunned by this, and thinking that the amount was perhaps too high, he offered a smaller bet size.

"Let's just do $100."

"I don't bet money," she said for a third time.

Chris Moorman, Ruben Visser, and Matthias Tikerpe , who were also at the table, started to laugh.

"Let's bet an iPhone 5," Kuo offered.

"But that costs money," Mercier said, chuckling very loudly. "I still have the 4s. I don't know if I'm ready for the 5."

"You two should just exchange gifts," Visser interjected.

"You're betting money right now," Mercier told Kuo. "You bought in with money."

"I don't bet money," Kuo repeated once again.

Despite his curiosity — and unwillingness to go shopping for an iPhone 5 if he lost — Mercier booked the mobile bet. The two asked Andersson whether or not he was bluffing, and according to the Swede, he was not.

We hope Mr. Mercier is finally ready for the 5.

Heemskerk Hemorrhaging Chips

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Steven Silverman raised to 11,500 out of the hijack seat, Edwin Heemskerk called in the big blind, and the dealer fanned {6-Spades}{j-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Heemskerk check-called a 15,000-chip bet, and the turn brought the {a-Clubs}. Heemskerk checked again, Silverman tossed out 23,500, and Heemskerk called.

The river was the {k-Clubs}, Heemskerk checked once more, and Silverman instantly moved all in for 80,000. Heemskerk immediately mucked, and Silverman picked up the pot.

Pasi Sormunen: The Million Chip Man

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Pasi Sormunen is the first player to break through the million-chip barrier after he won a big pot of Manig Loeser.

The flop was out and reading {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} when Sormunen led for 13,000 from the hijack. Loeser was in the cut-off and raised to 29,000. Call.

On the {6-Hearts} turn Loeser bet 35,500 and called when Sormunen check-raised to 77,500. The river dropped as the {3-Hearts} and Loeser snap called a 120,000 bet with {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. It was no good though as the Finn tabled {k-Spades}{k-Spades} for a flopped full house.

Loeser told Sormunen that he would've called a shove on the river.

Sormunen Grabs The Lead

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Finnish player Pasi Sormunen just grabbed the chip lead after busting Flavien Kevin Luc Guenan. Guenan was all in pre flop for right around 90,000 chips and the showdown went as following.

Pasi Sormunen: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}
Flavien Kevin Luc Guenan: {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{A-Hearts} and Sormunen won yet another pot. He's now close to the million-chip mark and charging ahead with just 64 players left in the tournament!

Burland Gifted Double

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Jamie Burland has a big smile, with a touch of shock, across his face after he was gifted a double up by Mikhail Korotkikh.

Burland raised to 10,000 and picked up four callers en route to a {3-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop. He continued for 21,500 and was called in one spot before Korotkikh check-raised to 60,000 from the big blind. Burland shoved for around 110,000 and Korotkikh was priced in to call after the other player folded.

Burland: {k-Spades}{j-Hearts} top pair.
Korotkikh: {9-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for bottom pair and back door flush flush draw.

The board ran out {a-Clubs}{4-Spades} and Burland pumped his fist at missing the back door draw that nearly came in.
