Video Killed the Poker Star

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Michael Tureniec
Michael Tureniec

“I actually watched some of your videos last night.” Michael Tureniec said to the player on his left, Stephen Chidwick. We presume he means training videos. At least we hope so. “Oh really? I’ll have to do the exact opposite now.” Chidwick said. Training videos it was then. Phew.

They then played a pot together blind on blind. The flop was {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. Tureniec checked and called a bet from Chidwick for 1,500. The turn card was the {9-Diamonds} and both players checked. The river was the {10-Hearts}. Tureniec bet 3,700 which got the fold from Chidwick.

Small hand, Big Pot

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Ivan Soshnikov opened for 800 and got one caller in big blind Sylvain Loosli. The flop was {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. Loosli checked and Soshnikov bet 1,200. Loosli check-raised him to 2,800 but Soshnikov made the call. The turn was the {q-Diamonds} and now Loosli led for 4,500. Soshnikov made the call quite calmly. The {q-Hearts} on the river saw Loosli check and Soshnikov think for some time. He decied to give up and checked. Loosli said “Four?” and indeed his {10-Spades}{4-Spades} was the winner.

Cody Four-Bets Then Gives Up

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Jake Cody
Jake Cody

Team PokerStars Pro Jake Cody opened to 1,000 preflop before Jorma Nuutinen three-bet on the button to 2,600. Cody responded with a four-bet to 7,900 and Nuutinen thought for a minute or two before deciding to flat-call.

Both players checked the {J-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop and when Cody checked the {10-Hearts} turn, Nuutinen bet just 6,200 and that was enough to win the pot.

Thorel Done For

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Jean-Noel Thorel
Jean-Noel Thorel

We joined the action on the flop reading {2-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. Jean-Noel Thorel checked and called a 2,800 bet from Dominik Nitsche. The turn card was the {4-Spades}. Again Thorel checked and when Nitsche bet 7,200 he check-raised him all in. It was 41,000 and Nitsche made the call with {3-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Thorel was behind with {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} and needed that heart to stay in the tournament. The {a-Diamonds} river sent him packing and Nitsche won a huge pot.

Govert Metaal sitting at the table said, “I was hoping for a heart.”

“Come on. I thought we were friends.” Nitsche repied. Metaal simply stated, “I am an honest player.” He knows that Nitsche with chips is trouble.

Pronin Out, Yurasov Highly Amused.

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Sergey Pronin didn’t have much left, and what he had was over the line. Ihar Soika checked how much a player behind him was playing and then re-shoved hoping to isolate the all in player. It worked. Pronin had {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and was racing against the {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} of Soika. The cards ran out {3-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts}. Pronin was out and a few more chips were added to Soika’s stack. Dmitry Yurasov, sat to his right was chuckling away telling PokerNews to write that it was a terrible call. He thought it was so funny he decided to play the next hand with Soika.

They got to a flop of {3-Hearts}{q-Spades}{7-Spades} and Yurasov check called a bet of 1,150. They both checked the turn {3-Hearts}. When the river brought the {k-Spades} Yurasov splashed out a bet of 2,300 which was quickly called by Soika. Yurasov turned over {5-Spades}{3-Spades} for the flush which set off another bought of the giggles. Well he certainly seems to be enjoying it so far.
