Tedeschi Gets a Double Up

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Paul Tedeschi is up to around 73,000 after getting a full double up in a hand against Jacques Krief.

I joined the action on the turn, the board was {7-Hearts}{9-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} there was a bet of what looked like 6,200 in front of Krief and 14,000 in front of Tedeschi. After some contemplation Krief called and the {7-Spades} completed the board. First to act Krief checked it over to Tedeschi, and the 2012 WSOPE Main Event 6th place finisher moved all-in for 19,625. After getting a count Krief, who had 28,000 total behind, made the call, Tedeschi showed {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for a full-house and Krief tapped the table before mucking his cards.

Hallaert More than Doubles

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Kenny Hallaert, who made the final table of this tournament back in 2011 (6th for €155,000), didn't have to good a start. Without losing any significant pot, he dwindled down to 12,000. "My draws were missing, my opponents draws were hitting" he told us with a smirk in the last break. Just now he was catching a break though as he more than doubled his stack.

Frenchman Philippe Lima had limped and Kenny Hallaert had over limped with {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. Hallaert's next door neighbor isolated with a raise and both Lima and Hallaert made the call. All three players checked on {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and the {6-Hearts} soon hit the table. Lima bet out 2,100 and Hallaert and the third player made the call. The {5-Hearts} hit the river and Lima checked to Hallaert. The Belgian player moved all in for 6,625 and the preflop most agressive player opted to fold. Lima made the call though, but his {Q-Clubs}{3-Clubs} couldn't beat Hallaert's straight.

Dominik Panka At The Centre Of Attention

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Dominik Panka

One month ago, nobody knew anything about Dominik Panka. Not much is still known about him, but the newly-crowned PCA champion was the star attraction when the first Europe-based event of 2014 got under way today in Deauville. Read more at the PokerStars blog.

Check out Felicia Field's interview with Dominik earlier today.

Halimi Reads Nitsche*

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Dominik Nitsche
Dominik Nitsche

Rony Halimi from France won a live satellite to qualify for the Main Event and just played a pot with the man of many Hendon Mob flags, Dominik Nitsche from Germany. The board read {a-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Nitsche threw out a bet of 1,000. Halimi called and the river card was dealt {q-Clubs}. Nitsche again bet, 1,600 this time. Halimi seemed unconvinced and made the call to see Nitsche turn face up {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. Having checked the board to satisfy himself that his hand was good Halimi tabled his {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}.

Zimnan Ziyard

A scalp for Zimnan Ziyard, he'd bet 2,200 on the river of a {2-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades}{8-Diamonds} before Gregory Benac moved all in for about 14,000. Initially, the EPT Loutraki champion wasn't too enthused but he made the call with {K-Diamonds}{7-Spades}, having outflopped Benac's {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}.

Good Day So Far

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Chakib Bennani raised to 700 preflop before Chris Day made it 2,100 in the seat next to him. In the next seat, Mateusz Kosowski cold four-bet to 4,600 and it was passed back to Bennani who quickly folded.

Day called to see the {7-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop where both players checked. The {J-Hearts} turn saw a 5,900 bet from Day and that was enough to secure him the pot.
