Roosens Suffers Tough Beat

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Well, this probably could be deemed a 'puke-worthy spot'.

On the turn of an {8-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{K-Hearts} board, Jean-Philippe Roosens was probably feeling pretty good about getting his chips in the middle with {K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. But then Timur Margolin turned over {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} for a bigger house and Roosens was drawing to two cards - just to chop.

The river was the {4-Diamonds} and predictably, Roosens was forced to make an exit.

Lebaron Value Bets Cardyn on RIver

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Sebsatien Lebaron from France opened for 350 and was three bet on the button by fellow Frenchman Nicolas Cardyn. They saw a flop of {2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{9-Clubs}. A check from Lebaron who then called a bet of 1,300. They both checked the turn card {6-Diamonds} and saw a river {j-Clubs}. Lebaron led out for a small bet of 1,100. Cardyn seemed puzzled but paid the price. He mucked his cards and slowly shook his head when he was shown the winning {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}.

ElkY’s Creed

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier

Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier has turned up to the tournament today dressed as Ezio, the lead character from the wildly popular video game series Assassins Creed. It looks like it hasn’t all been plain sailing and free running for him so far today though as we joined this hand he was down slightly to 24,000 from a 30,000 start. With one player opening for 375 from early position six players saw a flop of {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. [Removed:39] made a stab at it with a bet of 425 but was parried by ElkY who made the call. The other players faded into the crowd and folded their cards. A turn card {9-Clubs} and Berendsen checked to the cloaked assassin who finished his opponent off with a dagger thrust bet of 1,800. He collected the loot and bounded over the rooftops to safety with his stack now up to 26,000.

Deadman and Lewis off to Good Starts

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante
Toby Lewis
Toby Lewis

British poker pros Simon Deadman and Toby Lewis find themselves sat side by side at table 18, with Lewis having position. Lewis of course is an EPT winner whilst Deadman has over $875,000 in lifetime earnings. He reached that figure here in Deauville in the early hours of the morning when he finished second in the FPS High Roller for € 87,280.

After a few hours sleep he was back at the tables and back in the action. He raised to 400 from under-the-gun and picked up four callers. On the 4c]{A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} flop he continuation bet for 800 and thinned the field to just one caller, Jean-Noel Thorel. Deadman then check-called bet of 1,300 and 4,000 on the {A-Hearts} turn and {7-Diamonds} river and Thorel simply mucked at showdown.

As for Lewis he's up to almost 60,000 after winning a big pot against Friedrich Paul Raz. The EPT7 Vilamoura champion said: "I raised with tens and he called. He then led for all three streets on a 6-6-7-3-10 board with 8-9. He bet 5,000 on the river, I raised to 16,000 and he called."

Raz was left with 5,000 but has since doubled up.

The Deadman/Lewis Battle Begins

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Friedrich Raz opened to 425 from early position and Simon Deadman three-bet to 1,325 just a couple of seats further down. In the next seat Toby Lewis came in with a cold four-bet to 3,200 and everyone, including Michele Dattani and Jean-Noel Thorel (who have both just joined the table), folded back around to Deadman.

Deadman mulled over his options briefly before eventually folding his cards. Lewis flashed his cards briefly and his opponent let out a little laugh.

Folding Straights

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

On a {6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} board Florence Allera had moved all in for 14,500. Next door neighbor Roland Rozel was thinking about it for quite some time. Eventually he folded, showing the {7-Diamonds} to prove he really did have a tough decision. Allera didn't blink the entire time, and wasn't showing any sign of relieve as she raked in the chips. She wasn't about to reveal one of her cards either, she let them guessing!
