Big Slick Ain't the Trick

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Joni Jouhkimainen
Joni Jouhkimainen

Two big name players exited just before the end of level 12 and both of them held ace-king in their exit hands.

First to go was Manig Loeser he three-bet all-in for 25,600 with {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} only for Renato Almeida to re-raise all-in behind him with pocket kings. A {5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{4-Hearts} board sent Loeser tumbling out.

And moments later Joni Jouhkimainen suffered the same fate, he three-bet all-in for around 40,000 holding {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs} but he didn't even have the luxury of an overcard as Ekrem Sanioglu had pocket aces. A {2-Spades}{9-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} board gave him a flush draw on the turn but he missed the river.

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

The last break of the day has just started. The tournament will start again in 20 minutes.

Trijaud Eliminated

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Marc Trijaud raised to 3,500 preflop from middle position before Aurelien Soutchkov made it 9,300 in the blinds. Trijaud called to see a {4-Spades}{J-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop where Soutchkov fired a bet of 13,500

Trijaud moved all in for about 43,000 in total and Soutchkov tanked for a couple of minutes before making the call.

Trijaud: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Soutchkov: {K-Spades}{4-Diamonds}

The {4-Clubs} on the turn was a deathblow for Trijaud and the latter was eliminated on the {5-Hearts} river.

Not Too Big, Not Too Small

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Jonathan Abdellatif, a PokerStars player from Belgium, opened for 3,000 from the small blind and was raised by big blind Erkan Yildirim to 8,000. Abdellatif asked for a count and didn’t seem particularly happy to hear his opponent was neither too deep nor too short. Nevertheless he threw in a T5000 chip to make the call and they saw a flop of {4-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. Abdellatif checked and called a bet of 8,600, throwing the colours in one at a time. The turn was the {6-Spades} and Abdellatif quickly checked again. A bet of 16,500 Yildirim and Abdellatif flicked his cards away.

Boyaciyan Busted

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
David Boyaciyan
David Boyaciyan

EPT Prague serial final tabler David Boyaciyan has just been eliminated from the tournament.

Mitch Johnson from the UK opened the hijack and Frenchman Laurent Bachelet in the cutoff made the call. Dutchman David Boyaciyan on the button opted to call as well but Joel Ferando Durfort in the small blind had other plans. He squeezed and scared away Johnson and Bachelet. Boyaciyan however called and they saw a flop heads up.

{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}

Durfort continued with a bet of 25,000 and Boyaciyan made the call. The turn was the {5-Hearts} and Durfort now pushed all in. Boyaciyan would be at risk if he called and did just so. Boyaciyan was in trouble as his {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds} was up against Durfort's {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}.

The river was the {9-Spades} and for a millisecond Boyaciyan thought he had delivered a suck out. He quickly realised the {5-Hearts} on the turn had counterfeited him as his two pair was no good against the higher two pair. He wished the table good luck and gracefully left for the exit.

Even an Extra Community Card Can't Help Sfez

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

On the turn of a {6-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} board, Eric Sfez set David Zakine all in and was instantly called.

Zakine: {8-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Sfez: {K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

Sfez was drawing dead as the dealer put out the {9-Clubs} on the river. But then she didn't stop there and ended up dealing a sixth card (the sea?) which was the {3-Clubs}. Either way, Zakine doubled up while Sfez was left nursing a short stack.
