Pascal Vos, who finished 4th in last years EPT Berlin for €255,000, just got bluffed out of a pretty big pot. Vos still seemed pretty disappointed with himself when he told us the hand.
The player under the gun opened and Vos over called in position. Vos was the only one calling the continuation bet on with two hearts. The turn was the and Vos checked behind when the option was on him. The on the river paired the board and Vos his opponent pushed all in. Vos folded his and got shown a bluff, his opponent just had .
Not much later Vos committed the 26,000 he had left. It was a pre flop all in with up against Ayaz Manji's . The flop spelled doom for Vos. The on the turn and on the river were of no help and Vos exited the tournament room.
Joep van den Bijgaart's day hasn't been all that great so far. The first two levels he didn't win a hand and just now he lost a big pot with pocket tens pre flop all in against someone's ace-king. That 60,000 pot went the other way and left Van den Bijgaart with just 47,000.
To make matters worst he isn't able to extract a lot of chips when he does make a hand. He just flopped a set but got no action despite three opponents and a drawy flop.
Van den Bijgaart is playing well under average but still has 41 big blinds left to play with.
Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov needs an EPT Main Event title to complete the Triple Crown and he just put Mikalai Pobal - a man who has an EPT Main Event title to his name - in a world of hurt.
The Ukranian had bet 40,000 on the river of a board and the EPT9 Barcelona winner was tanking over his decision. The Belarusian had roughly 60,000 back so the decision was for the majority of his stack. He took his time, but given the gravitas of the decision no one at the table looked even remotely interested in calling the clock.
A few more minutes passed before he mucked his hand with a distinct grimace of a man who didn't want to. After that hand Katchalov climbs to 181,000 whilst Pobal drops to 60,000
A hand from the feature table to tell you about now...
Denis Patout was all-in and at risk for 56,300 with and Ludovic Geilich was up against him with pocket jacks. The board gave Patout the double-up to around 116,000 whilst Geilich dropped to 82,000.
A fast start on Day 2 has quickly pushed Dutch player Paul Berende near the top of the counts. Berende is looking to make a move up another leaderboard, too, as he sits just inside the top 20 in the current EPT10 Player of the Year rankings. Laura Cornelius caught up with Berende to talk about his career thus far, one marked by both online and live successes. Read and watch over on the PokerStars blog.
The whooping and hollering of Anthony Lerust drew a whole host of people to his table - and with good reason. Lerust had just outdrawn Jerzy Zarebski's with his own in a huge pot.
Lerust was all-in for 105,900 and the vast majority of Zarebski's stack was pushed across to the Frenchman after the river of the board. Lerust began high-fiving several people on his rail while Zarebski couldn't only sit quietly and contemplate his fate.
The European Poker Tour Season 10 Player of the Year race is on, and as you know players will be able to accumulate points in all events throughout Season 10, regardless of the buy-in level. In addition, all of the Festival Events (Estrellas, UKIPT, Eureka, FPS, IPT) that combine with an EPT tour stop will be eligible for Player of the Year points. The winner of this season’s award will walk away with €50,000 in Main Event buy-ins, good for any PokerStars or Full Tilt sponsored event.
The Global Poker Index (GPI) points formula, which will be used to determine the EPT10 POY, is a bit complicated, but you can read about all the details here. Best French player? Erwann Pecheux in the number 92 spot.
