Korik Doubles Through Chouity

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Zachary Korik
Zachary Korik

EPT Monte Carlo winner Nicolas Chouity opened with a min raise and he received two callers, amongst them online super star Zachary Korik in the big blind.

Korik checked to Chouity who continued with a 11,500 bet on {Q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs}. The third player involved made the call and action was on Korik. He shoved all in for 69,000 and Chouity made the call. The third player folded and it was time to put the cards on their backs.

Chouity sighed and rolled his eyes as he found out he only had one direct out. Chouity's {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} was out flopped by Korik's {J-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and the last jack in the deck wouldn't fall on the turn or river. Instead the {A-Clubs} and {7-Hearts} popped up and Chouity had to forfeit a large portion of his stack while the tournament gets closer and closer to the bubble.

Four From The Money

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

With 83 players remaining in the tournament, and 79 paid, we're nearing the bubble. The average stack is 201,000 at the moment, 50 big blinds.

Kamatakis Not a Believer

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

In a hand that took several minutes to play out with Iliodoros Kamatakis asking on each street how much his opponent, PokerStars player Piotr Shautsou, had behind, it began with Kamatakis opening for 8,000 and Shautsou calling on the button.

The two players saw a flop of {6-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and Kamatakis bet 13,000. Shautsou made the call and they went to the turn card {5-Spades}. Kamatakis checked and now Shautsou was the one doing the betting with a bet of 19,000. There was a couple of minutes of thinking from Kamatakis before he made the call.

The river was the {q-Diamonds} and again Kamatakis checked. When Shautsou bet 36,000 it took several minutes of calculations before, eventually, Kamatakis made the call.

Shautsou showed him the bad news {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and Kamatakis looked back at his cards for a last time but they didn’t improve and the significant pot was pushed to Shautsou.

Heinz Exits

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Pius Heinz
Pius Heinz

Pius Heinz got it all in and was called by Stephen Chidwick on the turn of a board reading {3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}. Heinz showed {q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and was in terrible shape against the {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} of Chidwick.

The river cards was the {j-Hearts} and the 2011 WSOP Main Event winner fell agonizingly short of the money.

Chouity Won't Win His Second Title Today

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Nicolas Chouity
Nicolas Chouity

Not too long ago Nicolas Chouity had a very comfortable stack and table mate Zachary Korik was short. All things have changed now as Chouity has made his exit and Korik was the one responsible.

Korik, who doubled through Chouity not too long ago, opened to 8,000. Action folded to Chouity who shoved all in. The big blind folded and Korik instantly called before we even knew how much it exactly was.

There was good reason for Korik's quick call. With {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} his decision wasn't too hard. Chouity was in trouble holding {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and was desperately looking for a third five or some other hand to stay alive.

Chouity already got up from the table and rightfully so, he wouldn't get lucky this time: {8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Chouity busts in 82nd place, a couple of spots short of the money.

Kamatakis Doesn't Ride on the River

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

With around 60,000 in the pot and a board reading {8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs}{4-Spades}, Iliodoros Kamatakis bet 31,000 only to have Belarus' Piotr Shautsou move all in. Kamatakis had about 75,000 behind, and he tanked for nearly two minutes before calling off.

Shautsou: {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Kamatakis: {9-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

It was a good call for Kamatakis, and all he needed to do was dodge a queen and jack on the river. Sounds easy, but in this case it was easier said than done as the {Q-Hearts} spiked! Shautsou slapped the table in celebration while Kamatakis shook his head.

Kamatakis then shook hands with Shautsou before taking his leave from the EPT10 Sanremo Main Event.

Meanwhile, Jorge Coello has also been eliminated from the tournament.

Filippo Bisciglia Eliminated As Penultimate Bubble Boy

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

We are on the bubble now and it was Filippo Bisciglia who ended up in 81st place, two spots away from the money. First he tank folded {J-Spades}{8-Spades} in the big blind against the all in of Johnny Lodden for 23,000. He then min-raise folded from under the gun one orbit later when Shyam Srinivasan three-bet him.

The two would clash again exactly one hand later. Srinivasan raised to 8,000 from under the gun and Bisciglia defended his big blind. On the {3-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop the Italian bet 30,500 with 30,000 behind and Srinivasan took some time before moving all in. Bisciglia tanked for minutes and ultimately made the call for his tournament life:

Bisciglia: {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Srinivasan: {J-Hearts}{4-Hearts}

"Good call," said the Canadian. He commented the {J-Spades} with, "Well, that is a good card for me." The {K-Clubs} river completed the board and the Italian was gone. Hand-for-hand mode activated!
