Lo Doubles

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Jean-Noel Thorel raised to 11,000, and then Rono Lo reraised to 38,000. Play folded back to Thorel, and he called to see the flop come down {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. Both players checked, and the turn was the {J-Diamonds}. Thorel checked, Lo bet 26,000, and Thorel check-raised to 100,000. Lo moved all in for 291,500, and Thorel went into the tank. He eventually made the call, but saw the bad news when Lo tabled the {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for a flopped full house. Thorel had the {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}.

The river was the {2-Hearts}, and Lo scooped the pot to leave Thorel with about 35,000 in chips. Shortly thereafter, Thorel was eliminated by Ole Schemion.

Down And Out (and Back In)

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Dan Smith, Daniel Dvoress, and Jose Carlos Garcia have all been eliminated recently. Dvoress and Garcia have bought back in, Smith already had re-entered, and isn't allowed another shot. Simon Higgins, 14th in the €10,000 High Roller during EPT Malta recently for €41,100, has entered for the first time just now.

Mercier Eliminated

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Ivan Luca opened the button with a raise to 11,500 and Jason Mercier three-bet from the big blind to 27,000. Luca made the call in position, and called Mercier's 21,000 continuation bet on {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} as well.

The {10-Hearts} on the turn made both players check, and the {10-Spades} on the river completed the board. Mercier checked his option and saw Luca announce all in. Mercier, with about 85,000 left by far the shorter stack of the two, wasn't too happy about that, and it showed.

"We probably both have the same hand" Mercier mumbled. For a bit it appeared as if Mercier was going to fold, but in the end he made the call for his tournament life.

Luca instantly showed {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}, Mercier tabled {A-Spades}{2-Hearts} and made his way to the exit. He has 12 minutes to buy back in if he wants to. Buying in right now would give him 40 big blinds.

Things Getting Hectic Now

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

With just half an hour of time left to enter or reenter, things are getting a bit chaotic with players doubling, some busting out, and more entering or reentering. Right now there's 46 players in the tournament out of 58 entries. A total of nine reentries have been made.

Players like Tony Gregg, Jason Koon, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, and Erik Seidel haven't been spotted yet. Bryn Kenney, who was excited about this tournament when a group of players were brainstorming about it back in Prague, hasn't shown his face yet.

Holz Doubles Through Alvarado

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

JC Alvarado made a bet on a flop of {9-Clubs}{7-Spades}{8-Clubs}, and called Holz's shove for 112,000 total. Alvarado had a pair and open-ended with the {9-Spades}{10-Spades}, Holz was in front with his flopped set with {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}.

The {4-Spades} on the turn gave Alvarado some additional outs, but the {K-Clubs} on the river was a blank and Holz doubled.

Chip Counts from Around the Room

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Kanit Doubles

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Vasily Klyukin limped in for 4,000 and Stephen Chidwick followed his example on the button. Small blind Mustapha Kanit shoved for 94,000 and the big blind and Klyukin both folded. Chidwick made the call.

Mustapha Kanit: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Stephen Chidwick: {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

The board ran out {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{K-Clubs} and Kanit won the flip.
