Zinno Gets Lucky to Make Quads and Eliminate Kamel

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Anthony Zinno
Anthony Zinno

Patrick Leonard opened for 1,500 and received a call from reigning World Poker Tour Player of the Year Anthony Zinno. When action reached Tamer Kamel in the small blind, he three-bet to 6,800, Leonard folded, and Zinno opted to four-bet all in. Kamel, who only had 23,000 or so total, called it off.

Zinno: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Kamel: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

Kamel was a favorite to double, but not after the flop came down {4-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. Zinno spiked his set, and then locked it up when the dealer burned and turned the {10-Hearts} to give him quads. The meaningless {7-Hearts} was put out on the river and Kamel headed toward the exit.

Three-Way All-In Pot

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Ismail Erkenov, Stephen Chidwick, and Uskov were involved in a three-way all-in clash. Erkenov had the {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}, Chidwick had the {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}, and XXX had the {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}.

The sevens of Uskov held up with the board running out {J-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}, and he moved to 32,000 in chips. Chidwick resulted on 57,500, and Erkenov was eliminated.

Bonomo Gone for Good

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Justin Bonomo
Justin Bonomo

Justin Bonomo was eliminated early in this tournament, but he exercised his reentry option. Unfortunately for him, he fared no better.

We're not sure of the action, but we do know that Bonomo got his stack of 50,000 or so all in on the turn with the board reading {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{q-Hearts}. His opponent, David Dayan, had him in dire straits.

Bonomo: {q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Dayan: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

Bonomo held two pair, but it was behind Dayan's straight. The {J-Spades} turn failed to help Bonomo, and he has officially been eliminated for good from this tournament.

Bad Beat Sends Higgins to the Rail Just Shy of the Dinner Break

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

After Patrick Leonard opened for 1,400 and Anthony Zinno called, Simon Higgins raised to 5,500 from the small blind. Quan Zhou was in the big and simply moved all in for roughly 60,000. Leonard folded, as did Zinno, and Higgins snap-called off for 30,000.

Higgins: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Zhou: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Zhou was way behind, though he did pair up on the {5-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} flop. Higgins was still a heavy favorite, but then disaster struck when the {Q-Diamonds} spiked on the turn.

"Yeah," Zhou exclaimed. To make matters worse for Higgins, the {Q-Spades} completed the board on the river to give Zhou quads. Higgins lamented his bad luck, collected his things, and exited the tournament just shy of the dinner break.

Dinner Time

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Players are on break for 75 minutes to get dinner, and here's some entertainment while you wait.

Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu has been mixing it up on Twitch lately, and we caught up with him during the EPT Grand Final. Negreanu was streaming on his laptop from his hotel room, and he was clearly having a good time playing $400/$800 8-Game.

Gregg Gutted by Vaeza

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

A short-stacked Tony Gregg got his last 14,000 or so all in preflop and Uruguay's Adolfo Vaeza, who didn't have too much more than that, put him at risk.

Gregg: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Vaeza: {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}

Gregg got it in good, but Vaeza pulled ahead on the {10-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop. Neither the {9-Hearts} turn nor {8-Spades} river helped Gregg, and he was eliminated from the tournament.

Celestino Busted in Three-Way All In

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Ariel Celestino put in his last 9,300 from the hijack, and Piotr Franczak called after some thought in the small blind. Big blind Adolfo Vaeza shoved as well for 32,000, and Franczak made a call he clearly wasn't happy about.

Franczak: {10-Spades}{9-Spades}
Vaeza: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Celestino: {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

Everyone was suited, but it was a pair that grabbed the lead as {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flopped to give Celestino the lead. A {9-Hearts} turn put things in favor of Franczak, but the {10-Diamonds} river meant Vaeza hit the nut flush.
