No Turns; Mateos Still Chip Leader

Level 29 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Hand #154: Fares raised to 160,000 from the button with {5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Mateos called with {a-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. The flop was {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Fares bet out 275,000. Mateos raised to 700,000 and Mateos folded.

Hand #155: Mateos had {k-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} in the small blind and raised to 160,000 and Fares called in the big blind with {k-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. The flop came {7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, Mateos bet 175,000 and Fares folded.

Hand #156: Fares limped in the small blind with {j-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and El Asmar raised to 280,000 from the big blind. We only saw {j-Hearts} but it was enough to make Fares fold.

Hand #157: El Asmar in the small blind with {astc} and Mateos in the big blind with {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} saw a flop of {q-Hearts}{3-Spades}{k-Hearts}, which both players checked. The turn was the {j-Spades}, El Asmar bet and Mateos folded.

Hand #158: Mateos raised to 160,000 in the small blind with {10-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Fares three-bet to 480,000 in the big blind with {a-Hearts}{7-Spades}

Hand #159: Muhyedine Fares was in the small blind and raised to 165,000. El Asmar folded in the big blind and the Senegalese player took down the pot.

Fares Doubles Through Mateos

Level 29 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Adrian Mateos - Muhyedine Fares
Adrian Mateos - Muhyedine Fares

Hand #160: Fares made it 200,000 from the button holding {A-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. Adrian Mateos in the big blind with {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} three-bet to 500,000. El Fares four-bet to 2.3 million and Mateos shoved all in. Fares called all in for 4,275,000.

The pot was 8,620,000 and that meant the tournament would either be heads up, or have new chip leader after the hand.

Fares was looking for an ace and would get exactly that: {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}{J-Spades}.

The ace in the window meant Fares was well in front. Mateos needed to hit a king or runner runner. He only had the kings left to hit after the {5-Diamonds} hit the turn.

The {8-Clubs} on the river was a blank and Mateos handed over a big part of his stack.

Last Few Hands Before the Break

Level 29 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Hand #161: Adrian Mateos called 40,000 in the small blind with {5-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Fares just checked with {q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. The flop was {9-Hearts}{q-Spades}{q-Clubs} and Mateos bet out 80,000. Fares re-raised to 250,000 and Mateos folded.

Hand #162: Fares called with {q-Spades}{6-Hearts} in the small blind and El Asmar checked with {q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. The whole board was {9-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, and both players checked down, and that was good enough for El Asmar to take down the pot.

Hand #163: Mateos got a walk in the big blind

Hand #164: El Asmar opened for 180,000 with {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} on the button and Fares called from the big blind with {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}. The flop gave El Asmar a full house as it came {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. El Asmar bet his full house for 180,000 and that was enough to make Fares fold.

Hand #165: We came to the hand with {a-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} on the flop and Fares bet enough to make Mateos fold and take down the pot. He showed the {a-Spades}

Hand #166: First to act was Fares, and he bet 160,000 with {k-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, and Mateos three-bet to 500,000 with {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. Fares eyed up Mateos' stack, but ended up folding.

Hand #167: Mateos limped with {j-Spades}{2-Clubs} from the small blind and Fares checked {k-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. The flop came {4-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{a-Clubs}, Mateos bet and and Fares folded.

Hand #168: Adrian Mateos folded his button and Muhyedine Fares in the small blind found {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} and made it 200,000. Hady El Asmar with {8-Hearts}{6-Clubs} made the call.

The flop came {2-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, hitting El Asmar. Fares bet 275,000 into the pot of 430,000.

El Asmar raised it up to 635,000 and Fares wasn't folding, he moved 2,275,000 over the line and El Asmar called all in!

"That escalated quickly" commentator James Hartigan said on the live stream.

El Asmar needed an eight or six, but it wouldn't come. The {J-Hearts} on the turn was as blank as they could come, and so was the {Q-Spades} on the river.

The aces held up for Fares, and El Asmar hit the rail in third place for €486,000.

Half a Million Short?

Level 30 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante

Hand #169: Fares found {7-Hearts}{2-Spades} on the button, and limped in. Mateos checked his option with {9-Clubs}{3-Spades}. {A-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts} on the flop and Mateos bet 100,000. Fares called with his flopped monster. The {K-Hearts} fell on the turn and Mateos checked. Fares bet 375,000 and Mateos quickly folded.

Hand #170: Mateos made it 200,000 with {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} on the button. Fares called with {7-Spades}{5-Hearts}. {A-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{J-Spades} on the flop and Fares checked. Mateos bet 225,000 and Fares folded.

Hand #171: Fares raised to 200,000 with {K-Spades}{2-Hearts}. Mateos made it 500,000 with {A-Spades}{Q-Spades} and Fares called.

The {Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{2-Spades} on the flop hit Mateos pretty hard, and the Spaniard bet 500,000. Fares made the call with his 16% hand. The {A-Hearts} hit the turn and Mateos bet 1,200,000 into the 2,020,000 pot. Fares folded.

Hand #172: Mateos raised to 200,000 with {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, Fares called with {8-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. The flop came {5-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Fares checked. Mateos bet 225,000 and Fares called with his gutshot. The {A-Spades} hit the turn and both players checked. The {8-Diamonds} hit the river and again two checks. Mateos took it down.

After this hand, a short segment with Jason Mercier was shown. In the meantime, floor Luca Vivaldi came over to check the chip counts. A mistake was made we heard during a chip race, and Fares was short half a million. That mistake was corrected, and the chip stacks were corrected.
