Short-stacked Garcia Doubles Against Nozaki

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante
Jose Carlos Garcia
Jose Carlos Garcia

Short-stacked Jose Carlos Garcia raised to 60,000 under the gun and got calls from Koichi Nozaki on the button and Adrian Mateos in the big blind.

The flop was {8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades} and after Mateos checked and Garcia continued for 120,000. Nozaki stacked and re-stacked his chips, and asked how much Garcia had behind. The Japanese player then re-raised to 260,000, and Garcia's response was to shove for his remaining 659,000 chips.

Garcia quickly asked for a count before calling, tabling {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. However, he was behind to his opponent's {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}.

The board ran out {8-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Jose Carlos Garcia's tens held, giving the Polish player a much needed double up and meant the pair of them swapped positions in the chip counts
