Petrangelo Down to 4 big blinds

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Nick Petrangelo
Nick Petrangelo

The cards were on their backs between Nick Petrangelo and Ryan McEathron.
McEathron: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Petrangelo: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

It was the Canadian McEathron who was ahead and was even further ahead after a flop of {9-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. The turn was the {j-Hearts} giving Petrangelo four outs, a ten would give him a straight. However the river was the {5-Diamonds}, and Petrangelo was crippled early on Day 2.

Four-Way Flop Action

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Pre-flop Jose Carlos Garcia opened and got calls from Schemion, Geilich and Ho who all saw a {3-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop. That was where the action behind.

Ho checked and Garcia decided against the continuation bet. Schemion bet 10,800 and got calls from Geilich and Ho before Garcia raised to 38500. Schemion got out of the way and Geilich three-bet jammed for over 100,000. Ho folded and eventually, after asking for a count, so did Garcia.

Geilich increased his stack to just under 200,000, whilst Garcia still has a stack of more than 400,000 chips.

Roberts Vaults Up the Chip Counts with Double Elimination

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Brian Roberts in earlier action.

Austria's Josip Simunic opened the action from early position for 6,600 only to have Italy's Daniele Guidetti three-bet all in for roughly 40,000 from the small blind. Brian Roberts was in the big, and he asked for a count on Simunic before sliding in a four-bet to 90,000 or so, which was enough to cover his Austrian foe.

Simunic found himself between a rock and a hard place, and he thought long and hard before calling off. It was a decision he would regret.

Roberts: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Simunic: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Guidetti: {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}

"Nice hand by the way," a resigned Simunic said.

Guidetti was more hopeful calling for an ace, but his request fell on deaf ears as the board ran out a clean {3-Spades}{q-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. Roberts' kings held and gave him the double knockout.

Chidwick Collects Three Barrels from Popov

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

After the big blind checked a {j-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} flop, Thomas Popov bet 12,500. Stephen Chidwick called in the cutoff, as did the big blind. On the {3-Spades} turn, Popov fired 33,000, and Chidwick called, while the big blind mucked. The {9-Spades} completed the board, and Popov barreled out again with 87,500. This final bet gave Chidwick significant pause, but he called after about a two-minute tank.

Popov knuckled the table and showed {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, and Chidwick took the pot with {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}.

Lodden Gets Khalifa Off Top Pair

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Jonathan Khalifa opened for 7,000 in the cutoff, and Johnny Lodden put in 20,000 in the small blind. Khalifa called, seeing a monotone {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop. Lodden bet 22,500, and Khalifa quickly called. Lodden went considerably bigger with an all-in shove on the {9-Diamonds} turn.

"Wow," Khalifa said, tanking for about three minutes as the cameras rolled in. "Pass," he said softly, showing the {a-Diamonds}.

Delgado Loses Some Big Blinds

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

After a player in early position shoved for 63,400, Vicente Delgado made the call from the hijack. Action folded around and Delgado would soon find out he had some catching up to do with his {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} as his opponent tabled {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}. The board ran out {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{K-Spades} and Delgado lost some valuable chips.

Selbst Shoves on Altergott

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Vanessa Selbst - Max Altergott
Vanessa Selbst - Max Altergott

With approximately 90,000 already in the pot and a board reading {5-Hearts}{q-Spades}{2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst bet 31,500 from the small blind and Max Altergott called from the big. When the {A-Spades} completed the board on the river, Selbst wasted little time in moving all in and Altergott his the tank hard.

A couple of minutes passed as the TV crew surrounded the table. Eventually Altergott released his hand and Selbst took down the pot without a showdown.

Petrangelo Eliminated

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Nick Petrangelo in happier times
Nick Petrangelo in happier times

Nick Petrangelo had a good EPT Malta, cashing in both high rollers in Malta (6th for €139,000 in the €10,000 and 4th in the €25,000 for €205,900), but his EPT Monte Carlo trip isn't going so well so far.

He has just been knocked out of the Main Event. He got his last 11,500 in with {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} up against Alexander Reard holding {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}.

The board ran out {8-Spades}{9-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{K-Hearts} giving Petrangelo two pair, but Reard rivered a straight to knock the routinier out.
