Massive Hand Sends Chadha Into The Lead

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Anatoly Filatov
Anatoly Filatov

It all started rather innocent with a raise to 1,350 by Carlos Chadha from under the gun and four players making the call. On the flop {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} is where things started to blow up. Corey Hochman somehow got his stack of 35,550 in via open-shove and Anatoly Filatov quickly called from the small blind. Carlos Chadha gave it some thought as well and then called, too. The {2-Hearts} fell on the turn and Filatov moved all in within a matter of seconds.

Chadha was sent into the think tank, talked through possible hand combinations. Eventually, Chris Hunichen called the time on him and the floorman came over to start the countdown of one minute. With five seconds left, Chadha slid forward his stack of what appeared to be 65,000 as well and it created a massive pot.

Chadha: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Hochman: {5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
Filatov: {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

Two flush draws against middle set were a more than juicy combination and the {5-Clubs} river sent the entire pot to Chadha, busting Hochman as a result and sending Filatov back below starting stack.

Early Dinner Break for Muehloecker

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Thomas Muehloecker just walked over to the table of Ismael Bojang and they discussed dinner plans, though the Austrian was in no hurry to get back to his table. The reason soon became apparent, as his seat was empty and Emil Ekvardt stacked up chips. He was just involved in a hand but nodded upon asked whether or not he busted the EPT10 Barcelona High Roller champion.

Mandic Busts Christoforou

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Andreas Christoforou opened to 1,500 and Goran Mandic three-bet to 3,900 to get called by the Cypriot. On the flop {10-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Hearts}, Mandic continued for 3,500 and was called before firing another barrel on the {K-Hearts} turn. Christoforou shipped it in and Mandic didn't even ask for a count before making the call with the {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}.

Christoforou only had pocket eights and the {4-Clubs} river blanked.

Five Bets Beat Four

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier grew up five-betting. Now he does it for a living.

It appears to have been a good career choice as he's now earned some $15,805,926 doing it live and close to another $2 million online.

Mercier has collected EPT Main Event and High Roller titles, World Series of Poker bracelets, and wins in just about every major online series on PokerStars or otherwise, and perhaps owes it all to this signature move.

The patent-pending Mercier five-bet worked to perfection moments ago when Nikolaus Teichert led for 1,750, Mercier made it 4,600 and Teichert four-bet to 13,000.

Mercier pulled the five-bet out of his bag of tricks after that, making it 45,000 to cover the 24,000 Teichert held behind.

Teichert folded and with completely unconfirmed rumors flying around that Mercier may have held big slick, he chipped up without showdown and put another five-bet notch in his belt.

Winter vs Kanit

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Mustapha Kanit and Sean Winter already battled a week ago in the €25,000 High Roller Event of the WSOPE in Berlin and both know how to win High Roller tournaments with decent track records in them. Winter raised to 1,400 and was called three ways including Kanit on the button.

On the flop {J-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{8-Spades} only Kanit and Winter stayed in and Winter then checked the {6-Diamonds} turn. Kanit fired 10,500 and that eventually won the pot for the Italian.

Yastreb Busts

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Just before dinner and on a three-way flop of {2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, Volodymyr Yastreb got the remainder of his short stack in with the {7-Spades}{8-Spades} and Brian Roberts also moved in with the {Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. The third player in the hand folded and then uttered something along the lines of "why didn't I three-bet pre?" before heading off to dinner.

The {6-Hearts} turn and {10-Diamonds} river changed nothing whatsoever and Yastreb was gone, Roberts moved up almost back to starting stack.
