McDonald's Stack Diminished in Remarkable Hand

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Ferdinand Le Pichon opened to 26,000 from middle position and Mike McDonald on the button three bet to 65,000. Both blinds folded, Le Pichon made the call.

The flop came {A-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Le Pichon tanked for several minutes. McDonald called the clock on him, and eventually he checked. McDonald now bet 45,000 and Le Pichon called.

The {5-Spades} fell on the turn and Le Pichon checked again. McDonald bet 80,000 and Le Pichon instantly check raised all in. McDonald just smiled a bit and said "That was a fast all in!" He thought about it for a bit and then called.

Mike McDonald: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Ferdinand Le Pichon: {4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

The river {8-Diamonds} did not save McDonald and he saw his stack dimished to just 27,000.

Dvoress Takes from Shorr

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Daniel Dvoress opened for 25,000 from the cutoff and Shannon Shorr called from the button. Darrell Goh did the same from the big blind and three players took a flop of {9-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. Goh checked, Dvoress continued for 47,000, and only Shorr called to see the {7-Diamonds} turn.

Dvoress bet again, this time 98,000, and Shorr thought long and hard before making the call. Both players then checked the {J-Hearts} river and Dvoress tabled the {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}, which bested the {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} of Shorr.

Jean Busts Just Before the Break

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

As players were heading into the break, Mikael Jean was eliminated at the hands of Bjorn Geissert.

With 125,000 in the pot and a flop of {5-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{j-Clubs}, Geissert checked under the gun and Jean bet 51,000 from middle position. Geissert check-raised to 120,000, Jean called, and the two saw the {6-Spades} peel off on the turn. Geissert checked once again, and Jean moved all in for 240,000. Geissert made a relatively quick call.

Geissert: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Jean: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}

Geissert had flopped a set to pull ahead of Jean's kings, though the latter had a spade draw. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {7-Clubs}, the last card Jean would see before making his way to the payout desk in 30th place.

Break

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

The first break of the day has just commenced. Action will continue in 20 minutes.

Farrell Pulls Big Bluff

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Antonio Chemi opened the action with a raise to 20,000 and Jens Lakemeier (button), Niall Farrell (small blind) and Mike McDonald (big blind) all came along for the ride.

The flop came {9-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and action checked to Lakemeier on the button. He bet 36,000 and Farrell called. McDonald folded and action was back on Chemi who was busy disentangling his headphones. "Thats 36? Is that a raise?" he asked the dealer, who confirmed it was a bet of 36,000 and indicated that Farrell had called and not raised. The initial raiser then folded.

Both players checked the turn when the board paired with the {K-Clubs}. The {Q-Hearts} completed the board and Farrell checked again. Lakemeier made a bet of 128,000 with 143,000 behind. Farrell thought for just a bit before announcing all in. Lakemeier wasn't happy with his decision but eventually tossed his cards into the muck.

"Show a bluff" Mike McDonald said as Farrell was about to slide his cards to the dealer. Farrell then turned over {Q-Spades}{J-Spades} at the last moment. "That's the only bluff I can have there" Farrell said with a smile, "I wasn't happy about it!"
