Sergeev First to Bust; New Faces in the Field

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

We missed the elimination of Sergey Sergeev, the first player to bust, but if the chip counts are any indication, Carlos Chadha, who is sitting on a big stack, did the deed.

In other news, Ivan Luca, Ole Schemion and Thomas Muehlocker have all jumped into action.

Yan Wins a Big Pot

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

[Removed:17] is up to 63,600 chips after winning a big pot in a hand with Francois Billard.

Yan got the hand underway with a raise to 600 from under the gun, Mike McDonald called on the button, but Billard spoiled the party and raised to 3,100 from the small blind. Yan responded with a raise to 7,600 and only Billard called.

The players checked to the river of the {8-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{A-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Spades} board, where Yan bet 7,700. Billard tanked for almost one minute before calling, only to muck when Jan turned over {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

Deadman Squeezes All-In

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

Simon Deadman hasn’t got off to the best of starts and is now down to 11,150 chips.

Jean-Noel Thorel raised to 525 from under the gun and the action folded to Jean Dafau on the button and he called. After the small blind folded, Deadman raised all-in for 9,600 in total, prompting folds from his two opponents.

Deadman’s fellow Brit, Tamer Kamel, has joined the table as the attendance figure climbs to 100 players

Small One for Foxen

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

William Foxen raised from the cutoff only to have Igor Kurganov three-bet to 2,000 from the button. Both blinds folded, Foxen four-bet to 4,950, and Kurganov called to see the {q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop. Foxen continued for 3,300, and that did the trick as Kurganov released his hand.

Katchalov Escapes After Treacherous Turn

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari just joined the same table as fellow pro Eugene Katchalov.

Speaking of Katchalov, we caught him in a hand when he defended the big blind after Oleksii Kravchuk had raised to 700 from the small. The {6-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} flop saw Katchalov call a bet of 700, and then Kravchuk checked the {K-Hearts} turn. Katchalov bet 1,800, Kravchuk called, and then action went check-check on the {2-Spades} river.

Kravchuk had been trapping with the {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}, but Katchalov didn't take the bait.

Kurganov Applies Pressure Holding Alluring Hand

Level 1 : 100/200, 25 ante

Cyprus' Stelios Stavrou opened for 625 from early position and was met by a three-bet to 2,000 by Igor Kurganov in the cutoff. The button and blinds all folded, Stavrou called, and the flop came down {5-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Clubs}.

Stavrou proceeded to check-call a bet of 1,600 and then check-called one of 4,500 on the {J-Diamonds} turn. When the {A-Spades} completed the board on the river, Stavrou checked and Kurganov did the same. Stavrou tabled the {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, but it was no good as Kurganov held the {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}.

McDonald Wins Without A Showdown

Level 1 : 100/200, 25 ante

Jean Souprayenmestry raised to 525 from under the gun and Mike “Timex” McDonald, to his direct left, three-bet to 1,600. Only Souprayenmestry called so it was heads-up to the {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop.

Souprayenmestry check-called a 2,000 continuation bet and then checked the {9-Diamonds} turn, which McDonald checked behind on. The river was the {K-Spades} and both players checked again. Souprayenmestry then mucked his hand without seeing McDonald’s holding, and McDonald mucked his hand, too.

Ung raised to 550 from under the gun and Troyanvskiy called from the big blind. Troyanovskiy check-called a 700 bet on the {6-Spades}{q-Hearts}{4-Hearts} before check-folding to a 1,400 bet on the {10-Clubs} turn.
