Down to 11, Kenney Busts

Level 14 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Bryn Kenney opened to 45,000 under the gun and Steve O'Dwyer in the cutoff three bet to 130,000. Action folded to Kenney who moved all in. O'Dwyer called instantly.

Bryn Kenney: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Steve O'Dwyer: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

No suck out this time as O'Dwyer hit top set on the flop and had Kenney drawing dead on the turn: {6-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. "Good luck" Kenney said as he departed in 12th place. Down to 11.

Zinno Over a Million Through Juanda

Level 14 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

John Juanda raised to 43,000 and Anthony Zinno called on the button. The flop came down {A-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and Juanda bet 42,000 after which Zinno raised to 95,000.

Juanda tanked for a bit before making it 285,000, and Zinno thought for a considerable amount of time before making the call.

On the turn the {Q-Spades} hit and Juanda check-folded when Zinno shoved for 370,000.

Steve O'Dwyer Eliminates Paul Newey

Paul Newey
Paul Newey

Dzmitry Urbanovich opened for 50,000 from the cutoff and Steve O'Dwyer called from the button. Igor Kurganov quickly released from the small blind but Paul Newey in the big blind contemplated what to do. He eventually called and the three of them took a flop of {A-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{7-Spades}.

Paul Newey shoved all in for 197,000 and Urbanovich folded immediately. O'Dwyer called just as quickly and Newey soon found out he was in trouble.

Paul Newey: {3-Spades}{4-Spades}
Steve O'Dwyer: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}

"Ohhh Steve!" Newey exclaimed upon seeing what he was up against. "Straight flush please. Or just a red five!"

Newey got neither. The {9-Diamonds} hit the turn and the {4-Clubs} on the river was just as meaningless.

Paul Newey exited in 11th place, down to 2 tables of 5 now, 2 from the money. If one more player busts, there will be a redraw for the last table of 9. Then one more player needs to exit for the remaining 8 to make the money.

Huge Pot Goes Gieles' Way

Level 15 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante
Luuk Gieles
Luuk Gieles

Some hands define the outcomes of poker tournaments and we may have witnessed one just now.

Luuk Gieles raised to 60,000 from under the gun, and Dzmitry Urbanovich three-bet to 156,000 from the next seat along at their five-handed table. Gieles called, and it was heads-up to the {8-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop. Gieles checked and Urbanovich checked behind.

Gieles led for 255,000 on the {4-Diamonds} turn and Urbanovich called to create an ever-growing pot. The river was the {2-Diamonds} and Gieles counted out 150,000 chips, but left those behind and bet the rest of his stack, a bet of 795,000. Urbanovich looked shaken by this and shook his head, took a drink of his water, and then stared into space before tossing in a solitary 1,000 chip to signal a call.

It was the {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts} of Gieles that won the pot, a hand that Urbanovich couldn't beat as evident by him mucking his hand. With that, Gieles is up to 2,650,000 million chips while Urbanovich drops to 1,130,000.

Monitoring the Hands

Level 15 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

The field isn't playing hand-for-hand yet, but the tournament staff is paying close attention to the action at each table. If one table is taking a bit longer, they've asked the other table to hold up to ensure things are kept fair.

Cold Four Bet Alert!

Level 15 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Dzmitry Urbanovich opened to 55,000 under the gun/in the hijack and Steve O'Dwyer in the cutoff made the call. Kurganov folded his button but small blind Anthony Zinno made it 200,000 with about 600,000 behind.

Luuk Gieles in the big blind thought about it for a bit, asked how much Zinno was playing, and glared at Urbanovich's and O'Dwyer's stacks. He then announced raise, thought about it some more, announced it to be 350,000, and counted out the chips he needed. Urbanovich, O'Dwyer and Zinno all folded rather quickly after Gieles had put the 350,000 in.

Gieles is nearing the 3 million mark. Zinno, who lost two smaller pots before this hand as well, down to about 25 big blinds.

Muehloecker Wins a Battle of the Blinds

Level 15 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Sam Greenwood completed his small blind and Thomas Muehloecker checked his option to bet from the big blind. The dealer spread the {K-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{q-Clubs} flop, a flop that Greenwood bet 31,000 on and Muehloecker called.

Greenwood bet again, this time 70,000 on the {4-Spades} turn and was called again. Greenwood fired a third barrel on the {J-Hearts} river, making it 185,000 to go. Muehloecker didn't call this bet, instead he moved all-in and Greenwood quickly released his hand,
