Gieles Eliminated

Level 7 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Luuk Gieles has been eliminated from the tournament. We ran into him while he was on his way to the exit, and told us he had just been eliminated by Steve O'Dwyer (who had just busted before that, but had bought back in). Gieles was down to 13 big blinds and pushed from first position on his 7-handed table. In middle position O'Dwyer woke up with pocket aces and Gieles' {A-}{3-} never got there. Gieles told us he was planning on reentering right away.

Brito Doubles Into Contention

Level 7 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Fernando Brito
Fernando Brito

Fernando Brito and Piotr Franczak got into a preflop raising war that eventually saw Brito call off his last 140,000 with the {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}.

Franczak had made the all-in move with the dominated {a-Spades}{q-Clubs} and missed on a {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs} run out, doubling up Brito.

Down and Out (and Back In Again)

Level 7 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

We'll Always Have Paris

Level 7 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Paul-Francois Tedeschi opened to 5,200 and newly minted EPT12 Dublin €25,750 High Roller champ Mustapha Kanit made the call, having just sat down.

It folded to Bryan Paris in the big blind and he shipped it in for 28,400. Tedeschi tossed his cards in the muck, but Kanit called with the {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}.

Paris had the {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} and would need the set he made on the {k-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop, as the {q-Clubs} turn was a brick, but the {10-Clubs} river made Kanit a set of his own.

Small Pot for MacPhee

Level 6 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Under the gun, Georgios Sotiropoulos raised to 5,400 and his neighbor Kevin MacPhee made the call. That other Georgios from Greece, Zisimopoulos, called from the big blind.

"Zisi" checked on {Q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and initial raiser Sotiropoulos checked as well. MacPhee made a bet of 8,200 and just Zisimopoulos called, Sotiropoulos folded.

Both players checked the {K-Hearts} on the turn and the {Q-Clubs} completed the board. Sotiropoulos bet out a mere 2,500 and MacPhee called.

Sotiropoulos tabled {A-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for the flopped pair, MacPhee had one better with the {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and took it down.

Dvoress Collecting Souls

Daniel Dvoress
Daniel Dvoress

Daniel Dvoress just collected another soul on his way up the leader board.

Joao Vieira open shoved his relatively short stack from early position and Dvoress called with the {3-Hearts}{3-Spades} in the big blind.

Vieira was on the {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and whiffed on the {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs} board that actually made Dvoress a set on the river.
