Small Relief for Tang

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Chi Daniel Tang was all in for just 6,000 chips with the {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} and got called by the initial raiser with {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}. The Brit doubled up after a board of {7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Hearts} but remains very short after having started the day well above average. The most chips on the table now belong to Rui Milhomens.

Zisimopoulos Busts; Panka Wins Some

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

One table apart, the fate of Dominik Panka and Georgios Zisimopoulos took different directions. While Panka eventually called a bet of 12,500 by Fabrice Soulier on the river of a board {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and claimed the pot with {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}.

Zisimopoulos called a four-bet shove with {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs} while his opponent Andrew Abernethy went into the showdown with {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}. After a board of {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, it was all over for the Greek.

Vinklarek Doubles and Then Eliminated

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The cards were on their backs and I had to double check the amount Vinklarek was all-in for. 300 chips. He was all-in against Derek Chisholm holding {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} to Chisholm's {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Vinklarek doubled to 1,800.

However, with blinds at 500/1,000 the big blind was not far away for Vinklarek who committed his remaining chips from the big blind after Stephen Malone opened to 2,200 under the gun and Purice called from the small blind.

The three players saw a flop of {3-Hearts}{4-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Purice lead out for 2,800. Malone called and the {7-Spades} was dealt on the turn. Again Purice bet, this time 7,100 and Malone called again. The river was the {a-Hearts} and Purice fired a third time for 12,900. Malone thought about calling, but decided against it.

Purice showed {7-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for trip sevens and it turned out that Vinklarek hadn't looked at his cards yet. He turned over the {5-Hearts} first, needing another heart or a six to scoop the pot, but the other card was the {8-Clubs} and his adventure was over.

"I had two of those," said Malone, pointing to the {9-Clubs} in Purice's hand. "Lucky turn!"

Malone lost a few and Purice adds to his stack on Day 2

Chen is Gone

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Picking up the action on the {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop, James Akenhead check-raised from 3,000 go 8,300 and Yen Chen then moved all in for what looked like 45,000. Akenhead didn't even ask the dealer for a count but quickly called and rolled over his {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for bottom set. Chen had {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} for top two pair and failed to improve with the {5-Hearts} turn and {6-Clubs} river.

Nitsche and Zeiter Departed

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Dominik Nitsche told about half the tournament room about a bad beat story and headed out while Diego Zeiter just three-bet shoved for his last 14,100 from the small blind. Initial raiser Yiannis Liperis called with the {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and Zeiter only had {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and ace-high beat king-high.

The biggest stack on that table is now Adrien Allain

Jacobson Busts Fridrich

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Marian Fridrich started the day as one of the shortest stacks and survived almost two levels before running with {A-}{10-} into the {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} of Martin Jacobson. The 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event champion stayed ahead and that sent Fridrich to the rail.

Mercier Busts

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

In the last hand before the break Jason Mercier had bet 17,600 into a pot of nearly 40,000 against Masters Classic winner Jussi Nevanlinna on a board of {j-Spades}{a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{5-Spades}. Nevanlinna then raised enough to put Mercier all-in, and after much thought Mercier made the call.

Nevanlinna showed {k-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for the nut flush and Mercier sighed, stood to leave the table and threw his hands towards the muck. As he left Nevanlinna asked the dealer to see Mercier's cards, but the dealer had already pulled them partially into the muck. Nevanlinna felt as it was an all-in and call that he was entitled to see Mercier's cards.

The floor was called and after clearing up the action on the river, and with Mercier's cards visible poking out of the muck, the decision was made to retrieve them and turn them over.

There was a slightly tense atmosphere at the table as the dealer turned over {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}, and with a nod Nevanlinna started stacking his chips as players went on a twenty minute break
