Kid Poker Punked

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

A clash between two Poker Hall of Famers has sent Daniel Negreanu broke and John Juanda skyrocketing to a spot near the top of the counts.

Negreanu defended his big blind against a Juanda open, then checked an {8-}{6-}{5-} flop. Juanda continued for 9,000, Negreanu popped it to 21,000 and Juanda three-bet shoved.

Negreanu called off for his tournament life with the {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} pair and open-ended straight draw. Juanda held two jacks and the jacks held on a {6-}{7-} run out.

Kanit vs Mercier

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The new level hasn't provided much action at the table yet. A three-way pot between Andrew Lichtenberger, Ibrahim Raouf and Byron Kaverman was checked down entirely with the chips going to Lichtenberger.

Then, Mustapha Kanit raised to 9,000 and Daniel Negreanu three-bet all in for 128,500 from two seat over to scoop the pot.

Soon after, Kanit and table neighbor Jason Mercier both invested 26,000 chips preflop to see a flop of {J-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. Kanit chedked in the cutoff, Mercier continued for 37,000 and that shut down all further action.

Raouf Fades Draw; Doubles

Level 6 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

It started with a raise to 7,000 by Igor Kurganov and Ibrahim Raouf called from one seat over. Thomas Muehloecker called and Andrew Lichtenberger then squeezed to 40,000 out of the big blind. Kurganov quickly folded, Raouf called and Muehloecker also let go.

On the {6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop, Lichtenberger made it 35,000 to go and Raouf shoved for 157,200 to pick up a call and be at risk on his second bullet:

Raouf: {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Lichtenberger: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

Any king or diamond would result in the exit for Raouf, but he dodged both thanks to the {9-Hearts} turn and {J-Spades} river.

Altergott Busts to Juanda

Level 6 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Jason Mercier raised to 7,000 and Max Altergott then shoved for his last 18,000 before John Juanda isolated successfully by pushing forward a stack of what looked like 46,000. Altergott was flipping with {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} against the {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} of Juanda without much success, the board ran out {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{A-Spades}.
